Holy newb invasion, Batman...

Is it just me, or was there a sudden influx of non-crazy newb intro posts in the last 48 hrs?

It's Wednesday, the parents meet the parents tonight, I'm trying not to lose my mind at work, so here's some entertainment for y'all...

1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?

2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?

3) Five places you want to visit before you die?

4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?

5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?

6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?

7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.

8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).

9) What's your favorite season and why?

10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?

I refuse to acknowledge the newbie invasion.  Button is making me a button.

No need to worry about the parents.  Everything will be fabulous!  (And if not, I am sure you have some rum somewhere.)  Does this mean that everyone is flying into town and staying for a bit?  In that case, wine, rum, etc. need to be fully stocked.

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?
I'm really excited for my semster to be over. I'm taking the last of my general requirements and I'm so excited to be able to finally focus on my major/minor.

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?
Clothes, my closet is seriously in need of a make over. Its almost summer and I have like 2 pairs of shorts. Losing weight is awesome but once your clothes start not fitting at all anymore it can be annoying at the same time.

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?

    Australia
    Ireland
    Greece
    Italy
    Spain

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?
My great-grandma used to knit christmas cards (i know it sounds wierd but they are really cool!) and I have one framed that I got after she died.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?
Blue, I actually organize my closet by color (its just a wierd OCD thing lol) and like half of it is blue. I have alot of jeans and t-shirts right now, but I'm adding more and more dresses recently.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
Clothes (not so much recently but usually). Im a shopoholic. I try to avoid malls/favorite stores otherwise I'll go broke.

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.
Hmmm....idk. I will have to think about that one some more.

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).

    http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/aida-mollenkamp/chipotle-chicken-fajitas-recipe/index.html

    9) What's your favorite season and why?
Summer! I love the sun, and swimming, and running outside, and camping/hiking/rafting...basically all summer outdoors activities :)

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?
Favorite: We have the same sense of humor - alot of people don't get us but thats ok :)
Least Favorite: Sometimes he gets in these really bad moods and refuses to tell me what is wrong and its really frusterating. Usually I just leave him alone for awhile.

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?

Cleveland Browns are playing the Miami Dolphins in Miami in December (only happens, like, once every ten years). FI is buying us tickets to go. We'll be tailgating (probably with that damn picnic set from C&B), and I'll try not to get a beer thrown at my new Joshua Cribbs jersey.

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?

I'd buy my FI and I a romantic long weekend getaway somewhere, and splurge on private digs, massages, and one of those insane food tours that rickylee is going on.

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?

South Africa, Thailand, Ireland, India, Australia.

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?

I have a blanket my paternal grandmother crocheted for me before she passed. She had started to made them for her daughters and started them for all the granddaughters...I was the last one she finished before she passed. I've had it 23 years. I also have a crystal butterfly dish that belonged to my maternal grandmother that I keep my e-ring in when I go to sleep at night.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?

I wear a lot of preppy/classic casual. Lots of black and denim, with plums, reds, blues, browns, and white mixed in. A sh*t ton of Ohio State apparel and dive/lab t-shirts.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?

Food. I love to cook with good foods, and I love to eat out.

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.

I would have loved to have crashed Mutley's or Salt's. The photos from theirs were gorgeous, and it looked/sounded like they had a blast. I would love to crash Jeanna's or Katanne's.

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).

We're making this for my parents and my FILs tomorrow night, with roasted asparagus and parmesan couscous:

    http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/grilled_filet_mignon_with_herb_butter_texas_toasts.html

    9) What's your favorite season and why?

Autumn, hands down. I love everything about autumn - the cool weather, the fall leaves, the smell of leaves and burning wood in the air, bonfires, hayrides, pumpkin pie, apple cider, pumpkin butter, sweaters, playing in the leaves with my neices. I cannot tell you how hard it is to live in SoFL during the fall...my FI tells me that I have seasonal affective disorder, only in autumn, because I get so bummed out.

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?

My favorite thing is his never-ending patience. He honestly has the patience of a saint. He takes everything in stride - my health issues, family problems, school, work, everything. He's incredibly supportive and patient, especially when I'm having a wretched day. His philosophy is, and always has been, whatever obstacle comes, we'll overcome it together.

My least favorite thing is he doesn't like tp plan. He very much likes to fly by the seat of his pants with EVERYTHING. To a point where it can drive me nuts sometimes. I'm juggling two full time jobs, a lab schedule, school, wedding planning, a workout schedule...I need to think (and, to some degree) plan ahead to make sure all the balls I'm juggling stay in the air. Like, when I ask him on Thursday, "hey, what would you like to do this weekend? Do you have plans with your friends?" and he goes, "eh, we'll figure it out when it gets here"....well, that's fine, but I need to figure out when I can go into the lab, when I can meet up with friends, and when I should crank out my laundry/weekend cleaning, and I want to arrange all that around when I can spend time with you. Sounds silly, I know, but I need to have some sort of gameplan to keep all the balls in the air.

I think it's going to go just fine. It's just a little nervewracking, being the first time they've met, is all. I think the fact that we're going to Disney will help break the ice and relax everyone a bit.

If it doesn't go well, we've got a fully stocked bar in the house, courtesy of our stock-the-bar housewarming party a few weeks back. That, and rickylee and I have a date in Mexicoland for margaritas on Saturday, regardless of how well it's going, lol.

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?
To go see BF in Boston this weekend. I'm in much need of a vacation (beside the one to Orlando we took last month)

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?
I'd hit up the fancy mall and go shopping.

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?
Awesome places out of the country..I have too many to choose

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?
Well, Bosco decided to scratch the window tint in my truck to smithereens last time my dad left him in it somewhere. We had to put him to sleep last night (not to threadjack- I just dont feel like writing a thread) so it reminds me of him and how evil he could be. I was going to get it redone but I've decided not to.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?
    Black work clothes.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
    BILLS! lol

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.
This girl I went to HS with who moved her wedding date up a year and mysteriously got pregnant on her honeymoon.

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).
    Grilled cheese..bread, butter, and cheese.

    9) What's your favorite season and why?
Anything but winter after the first big snow.

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?
Fav-Too many but one thing I love is he talks in his sleep and you can actually hold a conversation with him. They may not make 100% sense but whatever.
Non-Fav- He's stubborn and he picks his toe nails.

Stabby button added some art to the button page after being inspired by a newb influx

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?
Nothing, wow that's sad. I guess I'll be pretty excited when I get a more stable job but since I can't guarantee that will happen this year I'll go with my previous answer.

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?
I'd replace the stuff that needs fixing on my car.

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?
Except for the moon I've never had a burning desire to travel or see other places. I drove across country last summer and now that that's off my list I'm done with traveling. lol

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?
I have a music stand that belonged to my grandmother, she always kept this book about gnomes on it so that's what I do.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?
I'm having a heart attack if I pop out of my own closet. The only clothes in my closet are my work clothes which tend to be black, brown or green and my football & baseball jerseys.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
    cancer sticks

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.
Kat's wedding is close enough for me to crash so I'm thinking about it, I stalked her bio again last night and decided that if I were to get married soon I'd probably end up ripping off her entire wedding. I'd crash Jeana or Oceana's in a heartbeat though.

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).
I don't have links on my work computer so I have nothing to share.

    9) What's your favorite season and why?
Fall, I live in New England it's so ungodly beautiful here that time of year that every other season is such a waste.

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?
My favorite thing is that he always has my back no matter the situation and my least favorite is that he has absolute crap taste in football teams (I'm not trying to be cute, we actually fight about this).

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?

    Argentina
    Russia

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?
Magenta.  I don't know how it keeps finding me.  I blame Banana Republic's color palette.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
Designer shoes (I have like two pairs, but the combined price tags are borderline embarassing).

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.
Need to know everyone a bit better before I answer this one (despite Mutley's best efforts to scare me off!)

blackberry clafoutis- in my recipe book at home- will be happy to forward to anyone who is interested

    9) What's your favorite season and why?

Least Favorite: Unbelievably loud snoring...seriously...I don't know how he can make so much noise without waking himself up.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
    Alcohol.

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.

Oceana - have a GREAT time this week : ) I'm sure it will be a great experience. And your asparagus/parm couscous sounds delightful.

Ekath - where in Boston is your BF??

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?
We're going to Nantucket in September. Yay!

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?
Buy 2 plane tickets to see my Granna. And buy Dr. Quinn DVDs.Embarassed

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?
Scotland, Italy, Vancouver, Oregon and the Maldives

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?
I have all my Granna's "fancy gloves". I have her wrist length church gloves, her black satin elbow evening gloves, and these fabulous white satin ones that go up to my armpits.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?
Lots of denim, lots of black, and lots of bright colors. Mostly solids.Lots of quirky accessories/jewelry.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
Books. I have shelves and shelves of books. And I'm a sucker for pretty covers and bindings.

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.
Mutley, Oceana, Hetshup, and Jeters (but I'd be pretty obvious there)

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).
Grilled zucchini, tomato and bermuda onion with parmesan. I ate this for an entire summer.

    9) What's your favorite season and why?
Summer for the warmth and beach. Fall for the leaves and sweaters and fairs.

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?
I love that he is so thoughtful. He will look in 3 stores for the best wrapping paper for my birthday gift. He bought a book about how to fix my car. He always makes restaurant reservations. He always makes a point of making me a priority and not a "last minute" errand.

It drives me crazy that he is brutally honest. If dinner tastes bland, my hair is frizzy or my golf swing sucks, he doesn't mince words. His parents marriage got destroyed from bad communication, so I think he's a little extreme.

beths i just read yours again- my closet is totally organized by color too!!! (ala clueless haha)...the fuschia/magenta section takes over a hefty portion of the closet.  it makes me happy when i open up the doors and there's a rainbow of clothes awaiting me (and it makes picking out tops and bottoms that go with each other a hell of a lot easier).

As a relatively new poster, I've also noticed the recent influx.

Maybe I'm biased, but I don't think it needs to be looked at in a negative light...  newbies here are just ladies who are anxious and hopeful about an impending engagement... and after all, noobs need a place to vent too ;-)

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?
I'm graduating college after FIVE long years! And I'll be graduating with three of my closest friends, and sitting next to one of them during the ceremony. Also, moving into my new apartment in July/August

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?
Probably things I wanted for the apartment like placemats or bedding. Little things like that.

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?
Japan, Israel, the Bahamas, Mexico, Hawaii

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?
When I was little, my grandmother gave me a real leather, handmade cowgirl skirt that had been made for her when she was a little girl - complete with real pony-hair pockets and fringe. I wore it only once or twice before I outgrew it.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?
Color would be black. Style would be a mix of Hot Topic and Old Navy - a little fun, but a little conservative.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
Gasoline. I do a lot of driving. Also clothes. I'll get into my head that I just HAVE TO HAVE a particular item and it will drive me nuts til I get it. Right now I'm obsessing over finding a red tank top.

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.
Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson. I saw pictures of their "Alice in Wonderland" themed wedding in a mag, and it looked like the most fun ever.

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).
My macaroni and cheese made with Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup...
~Prepare any type of pasta to your preference, set aside (note: shaped pasta like shells, ziti or penne works best, but the choice is yours)
~Pour 1 whole can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup into sauce pan
~Fill empty can half way with cream or half-and-half, add to saucepan.
~Turn stovetop on medium heat, let the soup simmer.
~Once simmered, stir in one 8-oz bag of shredded cheese; or 1/2 lb of sliced cheese (anything but cheddar, as it becomes grainy)
~Once cheese is melted, stir well. Pour immediately over pasta. Enjoy!

    9) What's your favorite season and why?
Spring. Not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?
Favorite is that he knows a little bit about everything. He knows how to cook, how to give a foot massage, how to fix a car, how to fix a computer, and how to keep flowers fresh in a vase.
Least favorite is that he smokes and he bites his nails terribly.

Oceana - good luck with the parents, I'm sure it will go great:)

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?
Well I was really excited for my forbidden vacation but since that's over I think I'm most excited for two things...A good friend's b-day party/camping trip (I"m actually visiting her this weekend so we can start planning!!) and our Annual Let's Crash Paige's Farm House party.  It's a weekend of booze fueled fun!

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?
I would buy the jeans that I was going to go get tomorrow then I would buy BF dinner and put the rest towards our down-payment savings

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?
Holland (Where BF's dad is from.  Most of his fam is there.  Also where my Grandfather was stationed during the war..lots of history)
    Ireland (my ancestors)
    Greece
    Mexico (probably next year!!!!)
    Italy

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?
Probably either my Grandfather's fedora collection (authentic 1950's!!) or my Grandmother's necklace.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?
Our closet is SO small.  So it's mostly work clothes.  All different colours.  When I get a big closet I will have much more fun stuff in there.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
Cable/Internet/Phone bill. Those people are ripping us off!!

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.
I want to crash everyone's weddings...seriouslly.  Everyone's weddings look(ed) so amazing.  And I LURVE me some weddings.

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).
Most of my recipes are in my head...butttt hmm....I dunno I'll have to get back to you.

    9) What's your favorite season and why?

Fall.  It's not too hot but not too cold.  It's also beautiful!!

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?

I love him to death but he can be such an eeyore!  He's very much a pessimist.

He is so thoughtful and sweet and nice.  He's really the nicest person I've ever met.  He'd do anything...not just for me...for anyone!

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?
Finally graduating with my undergrad!  Hooray!

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?
Donate a gelding operation to the horse rescue (eg. pay for a stallion to lose his balls) and get new windshields for our cars (both are horribly cracked)

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?
Huh, I don't know.  Back to Oz and Africa, I'd love to finally make it to Tokyo, and I'm planning on India in November... so one more?

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?
My violin, it's the only relic of my pre-injury life that I still have.  I used to play about 5-6 hours a day, so it's like my baby.  I know its curves.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?
Lots of calf-length dresses, almost nothing long sleeved that isn't athletic/ long underwear.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?
Food!  We don't have time to cook very often and we live where there are a lot of really wonderful restaurants, so we end up eating out WAY too often.

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.
No one's.  I'm not big on weddings (aside from my own, of course. Lol)

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).
    http://howdoicooksquirrel.blogspot.com/2009/01/panang-beef.html

    9) What's your favorite season and why?
Winter, because we get to ski and I live on a highway that closes for blizzards about once a month, so I get snow days.

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?
Favorite: He always shows up when I need or want him there, and he visits my family just because.  I'm really close to my family, so it means a lot to me that he loves them, too, and takes the time and energy to be part of the family.
Least Favorite: He sucks at chores.  I wish he would clean without my asking him to.  I mean, he doesn't complain but he doesn't notice how nasty the bathrooms are, etc, until I point it out.

    1) What is one thing you are really excited for this year (non-wedding related)?

This semester to be over with. And mine and FI's beach trip planned later this summer.

    2) If you had $1000 and had to spend it by the end of the day, what would you do with it?

I'd go crazy for clothes, shoes, handbags because when I moved in with FI, a lot of my clothes and such got mixed in with my mom's yard sale stuff. Dammittt.

    3) Five places you want to visit before you die?

Ireland, France, Australia, Bahamas/tropics, and Tokyo.

    4) What's your favorite family heirloom/sentimental item that you own?

My grandmothers' opal ring that she wore when she was pregnant with my mom because her wedding rings didn't fit. And the diamond band my mom wore when she was pregnant with me because her wedding rings didn't fit. I sense a pattern.

    5) If I open your closet and look in it (and Buttons doesn't pop out of it in a ball gown and beebee tiara), what is the predominant color/style of clothing that I'll find?

Color - blue and grey. Style - I'm a student still so mainly jeans and cute tops. All my good expensive stuff is gone as I mentioned above.

    6) Something(s) you spend entirely too much money on?

Food. I love to cook and eat out. Andalso Coach bags. I buy them with a discount and on sale at the outlets, but it's still ridiculous.

    7) Name someone (Knottie, celebrity, etc.) whose wedding you would/would have loved to crash.

Mutley's looked like so much fun. And my friend's cousin's wedding. Lots of drunken brideness. Involving cuss words and vomit.

    8) Post one of your favorite recipes (provide link or ingredients/directions).

Work = no links. But I love to make strawberry cobbler for FI.

    9) What's your favorite season and why?

Fall. The leaves, colors, autumn breezes, bonfires, fairs, sweaters, weather, all of it.

    10) Your favorite and least favorite thing about your partner is?

Favorite- He goes out of his way to do little things for me and let me know how much he loves me. And not in a cheesy way. Like, I opened my wallet yesterday and he had left me a little sticky note in it that said (don't make fun it's an inside joke that I adore) "I love ya sweet stuff!" And (TMI?) the other day he bought the tampons I use when he was shopping with friends for something because they were "on sale" lol.

Least favorite- He prefers his things to be in piles. Piles of change on the dresser, coffee table, kitchen counter, etc. Pile of work clothes here, pjs there in the bedroom/bathroom. Pile of wallet, keys, etc. on the dining room table. I don't understand it.
