    First Dance:
Something from Frank Sinatra or Stevie Wonder
I like "You are the Sunshine of my Life" by Stevie.

    F/D Dance:
"Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion (I've wanted this since I was about 13 years old)

    Must play at some point:
    "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol
"Jump Jive & Wail" by The Brian Setzer Orchestra
"Lady in Red" by Chris DeBurgh
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by IZK

Anniversary Dance (in lieu of bouquet toss):
"Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel (my parents' first dance song)

Otherwise, lots of 80's and 90's music, just a touch of current music, a few classic slow songs.

And if anyone plays "I Got A Feeling" by the Blackeyed Peas, BF refuses to pay the DJ.  He wants that in the contract.  He HATES that song.

Ever since we first heard the song, BF has wanted our first dance to be "Then" by Brad Paisley.

If at all possible, I'd like to play "Beauty and the Beast" sometime during my wedding ceremony, for either the processional or recessional, if at all possible.  I'll be getting married in the Catholic Church though, so who knows if that will be at all possible.

I also want "Mine", Taylor Swift's new song, at some point in time.  BF always jokes that he loves Taylor and she's one of my favourite singers, so it works well for both of us haha.

In my mom's family, they always play "I Knew the Bride When she Used to Rock and Roll" by Nick Lowe for the bride to dance with the people in her family.

I'm not too picky overall though.  Even for the songs that don't have the best wedding-y lyrics (I know, excellent word there), as long as they aren't one of the main songs, I don't really care.  If it'll get people up and dancing, it's fine by me.

Wedding Party Processional: something in Spanish, possibly "Suavecito" by Ricardo Arjona (bonus points if you youTube this or google the lyrics in English!)

Bride's Processional: History in the Making, Darius Rucker

Unity Candle: When God Made You, Newsong and Natalie Grant

Recessional: Some Kind of Wonderful, Michael Buble

this is what we tentatively have.  we aren't really worrying about that just yet.

Not a big fan of Suavecito.  I much prefer Alejandro Sanz's voice.

i'm okay with it.  it's not my favorite, but FI loves that song.  he used to play it all the time when we first started dating a couple years ago.  he loves Arjona.  i haven't heard anything by Sanz so i will definitely look him up on youTube.

I definetely know most of the songs I'd like to have played:

Prelude: Several songs by Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and others.
    Processional: Cannon D (Pachbel)
    Recessional: Ode to Joy (Beethoven)

First Dance: I Had the Time of My Life (Dirty Dancing soundtrack)
    Father-Daughter Dance: My Girl (Temptations)
Bouquet Toss: Crazy In Love (Beyoncee)
    Mother-Son Dance: Up to BF

    Other Songs:

    Breath (Faith Hill)
    Just Dance (Lady Gaga)
California Dreamin' (The Mamas and the Papas)
Bon Jovi (Livin' On a Prayer)
    Twist and Shout (Beatles)
Celine Dion (Because You Loved Me)
    Foo Fighters (Everlong)
    Summer of 69 (Brian Adams)
    Unchained Melody (Righteous Brothers)

Many others that are not explicit nor about break-ups or tragedy.

Call me BSC, but most songs are not that hard to pick.

Damn you Oceana - you're using Somewhere Over the Rainbow, too! This month sharing is not going to work. At all.

I haven't been on top of our playlist too much yet but I am getting ready to start micro-managing this. Here's what we have so far:

Music that will be played while mothers are seated and BP goes down the aisle: Somewhere Over the Rainbow - IZ (This has specific meaning for us since it is the tribute song for FI's best friend that passed away in a car accident. His little brother and parents will be there so we're paying our respects this way.)

Prelude for me: "Fields of Gold" - Eva Cassidy

First Dance - "Stay with You" - John Legend
Last Dance - "Beautiful One" - Jonny Lang

Other songs that will be played:

-Telephone, Poker Face, Just Dance - Lady Gaga
    -Wasted - Gucci Mane
    - Love Song - 311
    - Black and Yellow - Wiz Khalifa
    - Just The Way You Are - Bruno Mars
    - O.M.G - Usher
    - Songbird - Eva Cassidy
    - Go DJ, Lollipop - Lil Wayne
    - Taylor Swift - Today was a Fairytale
    - We are Man and Wife - Michelle Featherstone
    - All We Are - Matthew Nathanson
    -Teenage Dream - Katy Perry
    - Show Me Love (The Stonebridge radio edit) - Robin
    - Into the Mystic - Van Morrison

This is just an off the top of my head list. There will be no "Cha-Cha slide" or "Chicken Dance". Our list is kind of all over the place because, well, we just have a lot of songs we like. It's a smallish wedding and made up mostly of our friends so it's going to be a night full of dancing.

I'm a music nazi, so bear with me:

Standards: "Moon River," "As Time Goes By," "Unchained Melody," "Time After Time" - the Frank Sinatra version, NOT Cyndi Lauper!, "Unforgettable"

Rock: "More Than a Feeling," "Tom Saywer," (for BF), "Sweet Child of Mine," "Start Me Up," "Livin' on a Prayer," "Don't Stop Believing," "I Wanna Be Sedated,"

80s Pop: "Summer of 69," "Billie Jean," "Thriller," "Beat It," ""Like a Prayer," "Footloose,"

Motown: "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," "My Girl," "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch"

Contemporary: Lady GaGa (any and all), "Firework," "Teenage Dream," "California Gurls," "Just the Way You Are," "Only Girl," "DJ Got Us Falling in Love Again," "Evacuate the Dancefloor,"

I'm not engaged, so we haven't discussed it much, and I haven't given much thought to anything beyond the ceremony. I'm a classical musician, so I would like to have live musicians for at least the ceremony. I would LOVE a string quartet.

I know it's done so much, but I like Pachelbel's Canon in D.

I also think it would be cool to have a string quartet version of "Everlong" by Foo Fighters, since we both love them, and it would be a perfect combination/compromise of our styles.

*looks down* Over 8 months to go.  I can't think that far ahead.  FBD and I discussed buttttt I will probably just troll other people's music when  the time comes.

What I know so far is:
Possible entrance songs : At Last - Etta James, When I Fall in Love - Nat King Cole/Natalie Cole
After we're married and walking out: All you need is Love The Beatles\
First Dance Possibilities: L.O.V.E. Natalie Cole, Something Michael Buble
Father Daughter Dance : Daughters John Mayer or something Jack Johnson (I'm letting Dad pick)
Mother Daughter Dance (b/c mom feels we need this too) : The Best Day - Taylor Swift

I can say that I want all of Desert's music.  And all of Oceana's party music.  And I'm also throwing in "I'm on a Boat." and "Rasputin"  at the end of the night (when the elderly and children have gone) b/c they're special songs from my university and college years...and they HAVE to be played at every good party;)

Yeah I want my mom included because we are so close. I am closer to her than both my dad and step-dad. I have thrown out a million ideas. As of now I will have my mother walk me down the isle and "give me away" in a sense, then dance twice, once with my dad and once with my step-father. This has changed a ton of times so it could still change in the future.

That's really sweet, but I would check with his family first to make sure they're okay with this and are prepared.  It's often very hard for a family who just lost a loved one to come to a happy event (like a wedding) and be blindsided with sad memories.  It's not to say you shouldn't honor and remember him, just make sure the family is prepared and okay with how you choose to it.

Also, I hate the fact that they used this in the Twilight movie wedding, but the song "Butterfly Waltz" by Brian Crain is incredibly beautiful for a bridal procession.  I find most of those traditional procession songs rather solemn (which is appropriate for a church wedding, but feels rather formal and stuffy for what we envision as an upbeat outdoor wedding).  This one is so positive and happy!
