Ugh, gross, DH.

I guess he controls himself pretty well during the day because he lets out the most rancid farts after he falls asleep.

Luckily I normally go to bed before him.  Unfortunately, this is not one of those nights.

  • I'd tell you, but then you too would have power over The bog of Eternal stench.

aromatherapy linen spray.  They have it at Bath and Body works and a bunch of similar shops.  I spray a bit on my pillow and that's all I can smell as I go to sleep.
  • Thanks!  I might have to invest in some for the days when I stay up later than him.  I don't mind standard farts, but these are INTENSE.

  • Yep, that happens in my world often. I feel bad for the poor dog who falls asleep near him and then is gassed out in the middle of the night.

  • Buddy has woken me up from a dead sleep with his smell before. I've woken up to find myself trying to climb up and/or claw through the wall to get away.

  • They're not spendy and even though I sometimes have to use it frequently, The bottle I bought in August is still 3/4 full.  Plus, I really like the scent.  Mine is a ginger and orchid.

  • Although I did threaten to staple one of those christmas tree air fresheners to the butt of his pajama pants.
  • mags - that's pretty funny about the dog.  Poor thing!

TJ - I hope you don't get hurt one of these days.

It just totally took me by surprise - I haven't noticed it until recently, and we've been living together for awhile.  Ahhh, the things he decided to hold back on until after we were married.  THANKS.

I know!  I mentioned to him last night that he certainly never did that before we were married.  His response, "If women knew how nasty us guys are, they'd never marry us.  It's nice to be married because now I don't have to try so hard."

  • I need to hold off until we go home on Friday.  Already, I'm thinking I might have to ship some of the maternity clothes and baby clothes we got for xmas.  Oh well, at least they're pretty light.

But I'll definitely be hitting up B&BW when we get back!

I told DH about it once and we had a good laugh.  I've always been pretty open about farting in front of him, but I don't think mine are ever as gross as these.

anna - it must be a subconscious thing with H, then, because he lets em rip after he falls asleep, and I swear he never did that before.

I actually think I'm more gross than DH.

  • I don't know how they do it.  I mean, we eat the same food usually because I cook.  It baffles me that I have no problem and his body processes simple things into that ungodly stench.
  • See, I think I get it out in spurts and he just saves it up.  God, it sounds uncomfortable.

  • I have never, ever smelled a fart from H.  I have only heard a handful, and they didn't smell.  It is the strangest thing.

Now, me on the other hand......

I never do it in front of him as I am sure my nastiness would turn him off eternally.  He walked in on one once and I blamed it on my daughter, and she just smiled and took the blame.  She felt bad for me.  He talked about it for a month about how bad it was.

She keeps coming back for more, so she can't be that phased. It bothers me because if the smell doesn't wake me up, the dog bolting for its life, usually onto me, does wake me up.

  • Sucrets, some of my friends have had a heightened sense of smell while pregnant - any chance they're the same but you're noticing them more now because of that?

And, FI lets some gross ones rip while asleep.  He claims to be unaware of this.  The dog is still the nastiest in the house, though.  He nearly cleared the living room at my parents on Christmas morning.

As a matter of fact, it rarely smells after he uses the bathroom!  Unfortunately, I see the evidence, rather than smell it.

  • Sucrets, here's a wild theory I have about DH.

When we were in Perth, he sounded like a train whistle.  We got here and...nothing.  I swear it's the water in Perth (which is about as gross as you can get).

See if he goes back to "normal" once you get back home.

  • My best friend almost broke up with a guy because of how awful his sleepy farts were. She would email me in the mornings talking about how she just couldn't do it anymore.

When they did break up, I don't think his refusal to take gas meds before bedtime did anything to salvage the relationship, even if it wasn't the main reason for the break up.

I'm sure I do it in my sleep, because I'm usually killing myself trying to hold them in while I'm awake. I need to just release the pressure (punny!) and do it. We have the rest of our lives together FFS.
  • I have the same problem.  Luckily they do not smell very often.  But still.

Here is a funny  DH story.  The VI requires anyone handling food to get a heath card.  Once a year we have to take stool sample for testing, get our blood preasure and temp taken.  Then pay $46.50 for a photo ID card.   It's not fun, but It is was it is.

Well today DH had to do his sample.  After he colllected the sample (at home). He put it in a container, then wrapped it in foil, then put it in a ziplock bag, then put it in plastic shopping bag, then in a box.  Then he was going to put it in the far back of the car.  Because you know the sample might jump out and contaminate him or something.

Now do not get me wrong, it sucks we have to do this.  But find it funny how much he is grossed out by this process, yet farting all day and night does not bother him at all.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  • Did anyone hear about that guy in Japan? I guess at the airport they have these little bunk things that you can sleep in during layovers. Well the poor man got in this little "sleep chamber" and farted so much that he died of CO2 poisoning (I think thats what it would be....i don't know much about the actual sciene of farts). So be warned ladies....ventaliation is key.

  • god we aren't even married yet and FI just lets them rip. Even when we are cuddling and his butt is right up on me. But hey, luckily they are just loud.... when he was drinking a lot of protein shakes though... EW. So stinky. High protein diets make em sooooo smelly.  Our dog is definitely the smelly one.
