Favorite marriage preparation book

At the request of my mom, FI and I have been reading "Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married" by Gary Chapman. Of all the books we've read preparing for marriage this is by far our favorite, and in our opinion the best.

Gary Chapman is also the author of "The 5 Love Languages" if you're familiar with that. (which was also a helpful book)

So what was your favorite or most helpful marriage book?

In our marriage study with our officiant and his wife we read the book "Love Life" by Ed Wheat. Great book!

FI and I are reading For Men Only and For Women Only, respectively, for our premarital counseling.  We are enjoying them so far.

I heard about the waffles and spagetti book on the radio. It sounded interesting and I may pick it up at the library

drama- We are reading the same book as you right now! We wanted to read it before the wedding, but I just found out about it about a week or 2 before the wedding. We read the first chapter before we got married and are reading it together, little by little, now. We probably won't even read The 5 Love Languages, because he explains them in this book. We already figured out what our love languages are and are trying to cater to the other's preferred love language. I love it!

If I had gotten to this book first we wouldn't have read love languages. We skipped that chapter since we already knew. It's helpfu,l to know his love language and him knowing mine. At least he kinda "gets" me now.

Yea, I agree, I think it's a great thing! Especially since our particular love languages are very different!

We really loved Sacred Marriage, by Gary Thomas.  It's designed for couples who are already married, but because we'd been dating for almost 7 years before our wedding date, a lot of other books we looked at just weren't a good fit.

I've heard about the waffles and spaghetti book. We've been given 3 books (parents gave us "Boundaries", just generally for young adults, not necessarily because of the marriage), his grandparents gave us "Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married" and we got one other recently that I can't remember the title of right now.

I read For Young Women Only, and it was very helpful as a teen, so I think I will invest in the adult versions for the two of us.

Only engaged for 2 months and in school - so no time to read them yet, but we're in teacher's college in the fall (which apparently has alot more free time!) so we'll be able to read more after exams/next year :)

Thanks for the other titles, I'll look into those too:)
