  • That's cute, LP.  We're "those" dog parents too.

[QUOTE]Good morning! Today is Lucy's birthday! She's 1 now.  Her breeder (yeah, yeah...) sent a birthday card addressed to her.  It was so cute.  We are taking her to PetSmart (or is it PetsMart?  I've never been sure) today to pick out a birthday present.  Yes, I am *that* dog owner.

What's this mini state fair thing, Pirate? I am clearly out of the loop!  I know the big state fair is in October but I had no clue there's another on in May.  Hopefully it's not while I'm in FL, I love fairs.

  • Steph and Hike, have you all tried the support belts from Motherhood? Mine was a lifesaver, especially for working out. It was well worth the price. I think I wore it every day after about 24 weeks:  http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=922000113&MasterCategory_Id=MC32

<div>Thanks! That sounds like so much fun, but of course it's the weekend I'll be visiting my ILs.  Guess I'll just have to wait until October.</div>

These and fries with vinegar are H's favorite. We used to go to his hometown county fair every year and meet up with his family, but we havent been able to go the past few years.

  • Fries with vinegar? That sound really gross.

Now I'm super hungry. I just got the registrationfor the fair a few days ago and already I'm thinking of my french fries for breakfast, funnel cake for lunch, kettle corn snack, and all the other glorious treats awaiting me.

It's not in Jacksonville. It's about 1.5 hours south called Port Orange Family Days. It's held every year the first weekend of October.

In Ohio Funnel cakes seem to be the thing at the fair. I dont care for either, but H is obsessed. Even when we went to Cedar Point last year he had to have one.

Fried dough is not my thing, reasons I also hate doughnuts and pancakes.

<div>I only lived in OH for a year and didn't go to the state fair, but I grew up in IL/IA/IN and elephant ears always seemed more popular back then.  But maybe that was just within my family/friends circle.  </div>

Sidenote - I just counted and realized that I've lived in 8 states and 12 cities.  Which is apparently a lot to most people, but it just seems normal to me.  I can't imagine living in the same place (and especially the same house!) for 20+ years, though that is the plan once we buy a house here.  It sometimes freaks me out a little.  Along with being a midwesterner, I am apparently also a nomad at heart.
    image
  • LP, I'm the same way. Only I haven't lived in that many places. I just constantly feel the need to move, be somewhere new, do something different.

But I'm stuck here in Jax and it's slowly driving me insane.

Mmm, fair food. Nothing like a fresh squeezed lemonade in all its pulpy goodness either. Morning all! H and I are on our way to his brass band concert, then we have a friend's birthday at a local beer garden later.

    "Good morning"! lol

I woke up about 20 minutes ago, showered and will be ready just in time to go for lunch! We have a gift certificate for this place called Montanas here, its like a steakhouse with lots of great stuff on the menu so Im looking forward to checking it out, weve never eaten there before. I have to do a short trip to the grocery store to pick up little things (fruits, bread, lunch meat, soy, etc), but once I get home I fully plan on being totally unproductive and sitting on the porch in the sun reading again like I did yesterday. I live a hard life!
  • Fries with vinegar is the only way to eat them. SO GOOD.

SarahP, if you're still here, last time I was in NOLA I ate at... Crescent City Brewing? I think that's what it was called. Anyway, it was good, and I was not drunk. There was another really fantastic place that I just can't recall the name of for the life of me. It was upstairs in the French Quarter. I think the entire place was upstairs, with a patio overlooking the Quarter.  This is probably totally unhelpful, haha.

  • Morning! I love fair food too, but I have to do it in small doses or my body hates me afterward. I love elephant ears too.

[QUOTE]<strong>Elephant ear?  Wth is that?</strong> Morning all!  Meal planning and waiting for some friends to drop by.  It just started raining out of nowhere and I'm irritated.  We're supposed to golf today.  It's the opening couples golf even today.  Gr. We're also planning our trips for the year.  Kd, I'm thinking our OH trip might be in July.  Would it be too hot then?  If not July, then it would be Sept or Oct and DMom might not be feeling up to it??  Especially with twins in the belly.  Heh.

Sesh, I totally get that.  As much as it's a PITA to actually pack and move, I like the adventure associated with new places.  But we're at a point in our lives now where it just seems like time to settle down, and we do like it here - though the 95+ degree summers can bite me, and I really miss snow.  Hopefully I will get used to the heat/lack of snow as the years go by.
