Re: budget wedding on the water Rhode island

  • Have you checked out Easton Beach Rotunda in Newport?
  • CHeck out Squantum Club in East Providence...not beach but on the water :)
  • Are you set on that particular date for a reason? If not, you may find that you have other options if youd' be willing to change your date. It tends to be easier to base your wedding around your dream venue's availability, not the other way around. Just my two cents!
Check out the Atlantic Beach Club. Their prices are really reasonable and overlook the beach and Atlantic Ocean. One knottie is having her reception there this year and could probably tell you more.
You could also check out The Majestic, which is a huge double decker power boat that you can charter. They have a full kitchen, and can do one level as dance floor and the other as dining.
The Rotunda someone already mentioned is right on the beach, and can be really flexible budget-wise b/c you bring in EVERYTHING.
    Good luck!!

  • I would also check out the Boat House in Tiverton, R.I - it isn't on the beach but it is on the water.

I agree that the Easton's Beach Rotunda could be a really good option for you because you'll have a lot of control over how much you spend on food, etc. and the view is phenomenal. You can also get married right on the beach outside of the venue.

I looked into the Atlantic Beach Club and it's a gorgeous location with reasonable per person pricing but the spending minimum was high-- I believe $10,000. We're having a small wedding and have no need to spend that much on just food/drinks. The minimums may be lower for you because you're looking in late September rather than peak summer season, but you would have to check. I'm assuming, based on what you said, that $8,000-$10,000 is your entire wedding budget (not just the budget for the reception). I think you can make that work, but with 100 guests you may have to be flexible and creative.

If you're willing to do a daytime wedding, Quidnesset Country Club could be an option. It's not directly on the beach, but it overlooks the shore and the prices are reasonable. Minimums for lunchtime are much lower. We also looked into the Wharf Tavern in Warren, which just recently reopened. They're starting to do weddings and they may be able to work with your budget. https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Wharf-Tavern/193377187381868
The location is lovely, however, the receptions are held on the second floor which isn't handicapped accessible, so I don't know if that might be an issue for your guests.

Also, I don't know if you'd be willing to look in CT, but if so, you may want to check out the Madison Beach Hotel in Madison, CT. They've just recently opened and they're right on the beach. FI and I would have considered booking them if they had been open before we chose our venue. From what I've heard, their minimum is less than $3,000, but I don't know how much they charge per person on average. They may be more willing to negotiate with you though because they're a newer business trying to build up a solid reputation.

    Good luck!
  • We went to a wedding at the Madison Beach Hotel last September (one week after the hurricane!) They did a really great job!! Location was gorgeous, photos brilliant, cocktails on the grass, and dinner and dancing inside. Lovely! The hotel rooms were pricey, though, so I'd recommend getting blocks at surrounding hotels (there's a Day's Inn nearby) like they did for the one we went to. That was really nice of them!

  • I second Squantum Association.  I wanted a water view (you are literally on top of the water) and they have a lot of different packages.  We are getting married there in 3 weeks and I absolutely love the venue.  I am also doing a nautical/sea theme and its a great space.  Keep in mind that their pricing includes taxes/gratuity and a lot of other venues I looked into did not, so it isn't apples to apples.  Friday/Sunday receptions will help keep your costs down too.  Good Luck!
  • My Fi and I are also looking to do a fall wedding next year on the ocean. He is a service technician and drives all over the state, he suggested trying westerly locations. There are a few there that are right on the ocean. I would try and look up some places there and see if they are within the budget. Good luck!
