I doubt TK would mind Eagles saying "Take your ring to your jeweler and get it re-pronged so you don't lose your stone" - if she said "bring your ring to ME!" yes, they can get pissed. I mean - teachers talk about teaching, I talk about apartments, mica talks about doctoring - they're talking about things they know about and can bring information to the table about. I dont understand the difference, just because one person works in a jewelry store, as long as the don't mention which or make any money off of it - there's no reason to get upset about it.

I'm just quoting you as a jumping off point, FYI.

Here's the thing.  People who don't even talk about their own business have been banned for being vendors before.  It happened.  I wouldn't make that up.

So while I'm not saying that Eagles should be banned, I AM saying that anyone who does ANYTHING that might be remotely related to the wedding business should probably be pretty fucking careful about what they say.

Okay,so you're not "upset" but you tried to get her banned because of it which was complete and total crap and then you just said people shouldn't talk about work if they're vendors or whatever. Do you see how that's stupid?

Ok, but there is a difference between pointing out that she COULD be banned, and actually trying to GET her banned.  And, frankly, YES SHE COULD BE BANNED />

  • I think some people care way too much about the internet.

Eagles was pissing me off. I made a snide comment that she shouldn't even be posting... because of her job. Now apparently that means I'm super upset and have it out for blood against her.

Do you see how that's stupid?

(Let's also keep in mind, that most of that conversation after I made that comment were other people chiming in saying they agreed.)

    And I agree! (YAY!)<div>
</div><div>But I, for one, apreciate the shiit out of Eagles for having insight on jewelry stuff that I dont know about. She's been helpful to me and others. It would make no sense to ban her for having an expertise about something that HAPPENS to be wedding related.</div><div>
</div><div>Oh finally! I have a good comparison - if we had a botanist, could they not talk about flowers? She works in a jewelry store and is good enough that she gets to do some serious appraising and things - she's legit. It just bothers me that someone would try to say we can't talk about things we know a great deal about because it *could* be wedding related.</div>
I'm not kicking off J.  I accept her flame.  I'm referring to AYG and a bunch of people who complained about me when they didn't participate in FFT.  If you want specifics, Celles sticks out in my head.
    Posted by mica178
Like I said in AYG, I was reading the thread sporadically and several pages behind (in between SQL queries), so there wasn't much of a point to me participating in FFT.  The same is true of this thread, unfortunately, but you mentioned me by name so I'll respond, even if isn't exactly timely.

FTR, it wasn't <em>just</em> that thread.  You do it frequently enough that several people have either commented on it generally or called you out on specific instances.  Maybe that means there's some truth to the flame?  Also, I think you misunderstood me: I don't think you lurk threads, waiting for an opportunity to inject your unique and witty commentary into them.  This is going to sound a lot bitchier than I mean it, but I don't give you that much credit.  I do think you use that bright orange banner to hide the fact that you don't <em>have</em> an original thought to contribute by implying that you would unleash your fabulous wit... if only you weren't constrained by your illustrious modship.

Like J said, either flame someone or don't.  The in-between martyred mod act is tired.

  • Beating a dead horse here (and not through the whole thread yet so no idea if it was brought up) and cutting in a more interesting argument, but I flame Gretchen because it pissed me off how bossy she was being about what women SHOULD feel towards the feminist movement.

  • Am I speaking in another language?  Because apparently what's in my head is NOT coming out through what I'm saying at all.

ANY SINGLE PERSON WHO DOES ANYTHING WEDDING RELATED AND POSTS ON THESE BOARDS COULD BE BANNED AT ANY TIME REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY TALK ABOUT IT OR HOW BUSY THE KNOT GODS ARE.

That does not mean they SHOULD be banned, or people WANT them to be banned.  Or that they shouldn't talk about their area of expertise.

You are all (SWEEPING GENERALIZATION!!!!!!!!!) taking what was said and poking way too far into it.

I mean, yes, a big part of it was asshole mods (for example, me saying SaltyPeanut did my e-pics and Dani immediately saying "Well I guess I'm banning her,"  even though SP hadn't posted on any of the boards in MONTHS at that time), but the rules are pretty clear about people in the wedding industry not being able to post on the boards.

AGAIN, I AM NOT SAYING I THINK THEY SHOULD ALL BE BANNED OR NOT POST.  I'm saying to fucking be careful what you say, and that's all.

Jesus.  Was it in English this time?
