wedding band repurposed promise ring?

My promise ring is absolutely gorgeous...it is a band filled with two outer diamond pave rows and one inner 1/2 carat floating diamond row in the center. Is it wrong to re-purpose my promise ring as my wedding band? The only thing that is holding me back is the fact that a marriage is supposed to be a new beginning/chapter. I always overthink things!

PS the description above was in no way trying to "show off", just trying to give you an idea of how it looks and how much it means to me. I have seen these message boards and often things can become sharp, and I am very thin skinned! :) I look forward to seeing your ideas and I love the feedback!

Re: wedding band repurposed promise ring?

  • i like the idea of engraving it! but you should definitely check with your husband-to-be.  if he has a new ring in mind for you, then you could see about finding something to compliment that one, or use your promise ring to design something brand new!  No matter what, that ring will always signify the beginning of your commitment to each other, and nothing can change that.

  • Well see I understand how much a promise ring means since I had one from my now fiance. When he bought my wedding ring he also bought the band that matched so it was a set. Now my promise ring that I worn for three years is chillin' in my safe which is kind of sad but I love my wedding rings and depending on how I feel when I'm older with children I might concider giving it to our daughter as a promise/purity ring but we'll see if I'm able to part with it.. haha. I believe you should do whatever feels right to you and your fiance. Hope I helped.Laughing
  • I think it's fine to use it as your wedding band as long as you and your guy are both okay with it.

In my own ceremony, we had some text asking the groom to move my engagement ring to my left hand as a sign of the promise that has now been fulfilled. Maybe you could do similar text for your ring? It would explain the sentimental value to your guests.
