Getting in Shape

p90x

SurprisedI dont think i am fat at all but i think i need to reallllly need to tone up.... so me and my maid of honor started to do her p90x today... i started working out last week but i forgot that she had the dvd set so i told her for us to get in shape... i just hope i can keep myself toned by the time my wedding is!

  • I'm on day six.  I love it already.  I don't think its terribly hard...but maybe thats because i went into expecting not to be able to do half of the moves.  Plyo did almost kill me that first day, but with motivation i got through it.

    What kinds of results have people seen that have finished the program?

    My FI and I completed a round of P90X last fall.  It's a really great program.  My FI had AMAZING results.  He lost 20-30 lbs and quite a few inches.  Unfortunately, I didn't do quite as well.  I definitely got stronger, but I didn't lose a single pound or inch. (I probably still gained muscle, though!)  P90x is great for overall fitness, but I don't think it's the best way to lose weight.  My FI lost a lot of weight only because he followed a very strict diet.  That said, I'd still recommend P90X.  I still do the workouts about three times a week (along with other things), and I'm continuing to notice improvement.  Everyone is different, but for me, it took a lot longer than 90 days to get the strength and definition I wanted.

    I just started the P90X lean this morning. I am a fairly thin person already but I really just wanted to build up endurance and do more toning than muscle building. I was sure what to expect but I am loving it after day one! Only 89 more to go!
  • P90x is really a great program although I also didn't have a ton of weight loss with it.  I've made it through day 60 in the past and certainly lost inches and was visibly toned but only lost a few pounds.  This time around I'm adding cardio to the mainly toning days (chest and back, legs and back, etc) and hoping to see a little more weight loss.  I will say though that I am relatively close to my goal weight and that may be why I didn't have more dramatic weight loss (but, never looked better in a bathing suit then when I was doing it!)  Currently back on day 12, good luck!
