I knew this was going to happen

Watching SYTTD, and now I want a totally different dress.

I don't care if you've never even seen it; lie to me and tell me the one I bought is perfect.

Also, the Knot ate my first post, so if this shows up twice, sorry, yo.

Re: I knew this was going to happen

  • Heyyyyyyyyyy look there's my other post.  Awesome.
  • I see other dresses I like but I know the dress I got is the one for me. I think it happens to all brides. I'm sure trying on your dress again will confirm you made the right decision :)
  • I started to feel a little bit of dress regret too after I bought my dress.  But then when I went for my final fitting I fell in love with it all over again.  Your dress IS perfect!

  • I hear you totally, but remember you bought that dress for a reason - it looked good on your body, you felt good in it, and it was the right price.  Or any combination of those very good reasons!

I oogle dresses with lace straps and open backs, and more sleek silhouettes.  I've got a big poofy strapless princess dress.  I love it to pieces, and while I do feel jealous looking at other dresses sometimes, I remind myself that I tried on similar dresses and they just weren't quite right on me.  They are wonderful dresses on someone else.

And at the end of the day, it really is just a dress.  For a very special occasion, but even if it turned out it wasn't the absolute perfect best dress everrrrrr, the one you got looks gorgeous on you and there's any number of dresses that you could wear and be perfectly happy with, but you only get to pick one.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I *heart* you, Cab.  Excellent.  :)

And Cal, you're totally right.  Those dresses are gorgeous on some girls, and mine is gorgeous on me.  Besides, I was looking for something different, and this fits the bill.  :)
  • your dress is awesome; I agree with CAB lol :)

In a minor threadjack, I get to go have a fitting today !!

    /end threadjack

really- you bought your dress because it looks fab on you and you loved it. I still sometimes wonder if I should have gotten a different dress, but I know my dress is the one for me.... and I agree it is reassuring to try it on. So, if you can- go bust it out! haha

  • I had that feeling too, and I was having my dress CUSTOM MADE! AND I DESIGNED IT MYSELF!!!! Like drew it out, picked out the pattern, material, everything. Yet, I still had a doubt or 2 at some point.
So, you're so not alone on your feelings. But, you'll be so happy in the end with your choice.
  • I still second guess if I should have chosen the other dress (I was down to two dresses, very good prices, and I had to just pick one). But then I remember that the dress I did decided on is not like any dress I've seen before, which is what I wanted. And it makes my waist and hips look awesooooome!

SO- You picked your dress because when you put it on, you felt awesome. And you look awesome! You made the right choice!

<div>My fitting was great :) This is my second out of 4 fittings... my dress is being altered from a size 8 on the rack to fit me... and I'm petite (I wear XS's and size 00 typically... 24 inch natural waist) so that says a lot about the project that it is... but my seamstress is amazing.

She hasn't hemmed the length yet, she took in the inner corset/boning to make sure she had that fitting me perfectly before she altered the outside of the dress. She had it gathered much more than it was, but hadn't finished the stitches completely or cut any fabric. That's all happening after this fitting, and then once we are sure that's right at the next fitting in 2 weeks then she is going to do the final hem measurement. Here's a pic of my dress from the first fitting showing how much alterations it needed:(and the back of the dress is zipped in this pic)</div><div>

    <div>
</div><div>and the front (note, where the 2 gathers are in the front, there is beadwork; it is covered with tissue paper at the moment because of the sewing so they don't get caught)</div><div>

    </div><div>
</div><div>it will be that length- it is pinned but not hemmed. My ceremony shoes (that I have on in the picture) are taller than my reception shoes (which are my ballroom dance shoes). My ceremony shoes are a fun zebra print and we're doing an outdoor wedding, so I'm really excited that my awesome shoes will be able to peep out from under my dress when I walk :)</div><div>
</div><div>Thanks for asking... and I really did threadjack you again, but I don't feel like it's necessary to AW my own thread for this (maybe on my final fitting!)</div><div>
    </div><div>:)</div>

  • I love the dress.  It's gorgeous.  And no worries on threadjacking - conversations naturally evolve.  :)
  • Wait, I've been gone for a few days. Kellie, have we seen your dress???
