Misery

I spent my lunch break (plus an extra hour) at the RMV.  That's like the DMV if you're not from Mass.

This is the FOURTH time I've gone to try to get my driver's license transferred.  The first time, they wouldn't take my pay stub because it's a PDF.  The second time, they wouldn't take my mortgage because it wasn't signed by the lender.  The third time I was trying to get a fast pass for the tolls and couldn't because Kentucky isn't in their list for license plates.

Today I went in with the registration for my new car (Mass plates), my cell phone bill, and two bank statements (got all that stuff last week).  And, they FINALLY gave me my license.  But not until I WAITED and WAITED and WAITED.  And the train ride/walk back to my office was REALLY humid.

And now?  It's pouring.  I can usually see bridges and stuff from here, but it's a whiteout.  You can see two streets over, but normally it's WAY farther.

It's not my afternoon.  Anybody wanna cheer me up?

If that can't make you laugh, well, then...you're screwed.
  • The DMV is the blackhole of Earth.  I really can't deal with that place.

  • On the bright side......at least you got your license today.  You could have done ALL that and come up empty handed.
  • Are you actually in Boston?  Go to Boston Beer Works or John Harvard's Brew Pub and get a drink :)
  • Yea, the RMV can be a pain.  I'm lucky to live 45 minutes outside of Boston so I can go to one of the smaller, less populated branches.

I did have to go to the title division in Quincy once and you wouldn't believe the amount of paper work I needed to get the title to my car.

Cheer up! I think the rain (it's black outside my office right now) is better than 95 degrees!

Yeah, Joy, she's not kidding about this rain, though. I wouldn't go outside right now, not even for beer.

And squirrly doesn't even like beer!

If it makes you feel any better getting my license and plates here involved six separate trips and a letter from the bank that holds the loan on my car.  Just before the woman at the bank faxed the letter confirming that they were the same bank (they had moved to a new building and the address wasn't the same as was on the title), she called and asked if she should include in the letter that their name would soon be changing.  I was almost in tears envisioning another 3-4 trips to wait in line 45-60 minutes each time.  I was hissing at her "NO!!! They don't know and I don't need you bringing it up."

Yeah, stack, that's why I took 932 documents with me.  Just in case.

Oh - whoops.  I completely blocked out the rain part.  Okay.. wait until it stops and THEN go and get something that's not beer.
  • Yeah, I went to the Chinatown branch b/c it's easy to get to from my office (Orange Line).

Visibility was up to about 8 blocks, but it's back down to about 4 now.  Gah-ross.  And, Opal's right - that's the way I feel about beer.  BUT, Boston Beer Works has a fruit flavored beer that's tolerable.  And I think they have non-beer stuff too.  I'm pretty sure we went there for our friend's celebration of passing his CPA exam a month or so ago.  It was close to North Station, that's all I know.

  • Ooh, I'll have to try out BBW sometime, sounds delicious. Maybe a future happy hour!
  • Yeah, it was pretty good.  They do beer flights, too.  H and I split one - I drank the fruity stuff and he drank the gross stuff.  :D

  • That sucks squirrly! On the bright side, this rain should hopefully cool things down a bit! The heat index here in the Ville was 114 yesterday and they decided it was the best day to repave Main St. (where I work). Talk about h-o-t!!
  • Arb - I can.  That's so cute!  And, actually sounds a LOT like the convo next to me at the RMV (Portuguese, I think).  Tongue out

Yeah, I wonder if my volleyball team that I used to coach has had practice this week.  If the heat index is over 94 the rules get wacky, and given that the high was 100 yesterday or the day before, I'm hoping they're having morning practices.  If I were still there, it'd be no practice at all, since I had to have afternoons.

I really hope the rain wraps up shortly, so that I don't get soaked walking BACK to the T.  That would suck.

  • I couldn't believe how hot it felt yesterday when I left work. I didn't even want to leave my dog outside for a long time when he wanted to putz around the yard. There's no way anyone should have been practicing anything yesterday! It's been rainy here today, but MUCH cooler.
