After reception on Fremont?

Hi ladies and gent!

I'm about two months out and rethinking a lot of the day! Eek! I'm starting to ponder if taking the DDB strip tour after dinner might be better than before dinner and them have the bus end at Fremont street. However, I was wondering what to do when we got to Fremont street. Does anyone have any suggestions for a cool bar or something fun?

Thanks!

Re: After reception on Fremont?

  • They have zip lining at Fremont, that's the only thing I liked there. Hmmmm tough call between the 2. I would personally want to stay on the strip, but for people who haven't seen Fremont it could be fun.

  • That's what I was thinking...FI and I weren't there very long when we were there on our first trip to LV.  I think I'll just have the bus drop us back off on the Strip.

    Thanks!

  • Fremont is amazing, and it can be a real freak show and great for people watching. There are tonnes of really cool bars down there, with great prices and some amazing stories will come out of it. The gambling is cheaper too. It's not for everyone, but I think it would be a good time.

This site is an excellent resource for planning a bar reception or a bar crawl:

Downtown Cocktail Room would get my vote!

  • We're doing the DDB after our ceremony, which is at 7pm, going to Fremont for one of the light shows and to check it out, and ending our bus ride back at the strip. I'm crossing my fingers that when I tell them to be back at the bus to head back, we'll have the whole crew and I won't have to leave anybody Smile

  • Fremont is kind of a love it or hate it thing.  Personally I like a more raucous crowd at the craps table and you can typically find that at Fremont.  There are some really cool bars too, I love Insert Coins.  If you're more of a cocktails and cirque du soleil type person, you'll probably hate it down there.  I don't like a lot of the people I run into at the tables on the strip; half the time it's older men trying to impress hookers by telling them how much money they have or gambling higher amounts than they should and leaving the table pissed off lol.  My one complaint about Fremont is it is completely dead after midnight for everything close enough to the canpoy area, and I don't feel safe venturing too far away from there on foot, so late night means mostly just gambling for me..

  • I was planning on taking my wedding guests to Fremont because it seems like the clubs I'velooked into were a lot less uptight about who was good enough to enter or not. Less pressure for us 30-somethings and older!

This is definitely true, and if you have a group, you can talk many of them into waiving cover for you.

  • I really like Golddigger at Golden Nugget. They play good music and it's pretty laid back. They also have a small balcony you can hang out at.

  • Would the Fremont clubs let me in in my gown?  Or will I have to change my gown?
  • Have you ever been to Fremont street? Like vegasgroom said, it's either love it or hate it. We visited for the first time but we went during daylight hours. We were less than impressed and decided we prefer the strip. We are going to give it a second chance with the ddb tour. We're going to have the bus take us for the lights show and then bring us back. I'm sure whatever you decide will be great.

If you have a big group with you, most places on Fremont will let you do whatever you want lol.  They want the business, unlike the strip who will turn away business if they think it helps their image.

FI and I went to Fremont street one evening one out first visit to LV.  We enjoyed the light show and the street performers but didn't get to explore much since we had additional plans that evening.  I completely over-planned activity-wise on our first trip. lol.

Thanks VG!  That's actually great to hear!  I bought a cheap dress to change into, but I really want to wear my dress as much as I can. :)
  • Freemont street is defiantly not for everyone. I personally love it down there - the drinks are WAY cheaper compared to the strip and their are always different live bands on every corner. The  zip line is fun but i would recommend setting a reservation for your group in advance so you dont have to wait in line for an hour. You can wear literally anything down there and people do. Its a great place for people watching and the south end of the Freement experience has a number of different clubs to choose from. As Vegasgroom said - Insert Coins is a lot of fun for all different types. The Griffin is more metal/techno ( sounds silly but they have two rooms to the club) and Dont Tell Mama is fun but I wouldn't suggest it for the guys necessarily.
