By tradition, we had Persian cookies and pastries and fruit at our wedding.

One bad memory from a wedding I went to was stuffed mushrooms that had some hidden liquid/oil in the inside , and when you bit into them the liquid squirted out all over your clothes, then you had to wipe it down with their napkins which were in the wedding colors ( red), so several people including me unknowingly ended up with red tinted oil spots on their light colored clothing.

I don't really care about hors d'oeuvres, but I think it's really cool when people have a midnight snack like cups of french fries and chocolate milk or a gelato cart.

Hmmmm...probably the sushi station at my boss' wedding.

I liked all of ours pretty well:  mini-lamb chops, bacon wrapped scallops, tuna wontons, crab cakes, goat cheese and sundried tomato on crostini, and shrimp.

We are serving mini fruit kabobs, mini veggie crudites, beef skewers, assorted quiche, mini pizzas with our man&cheese station and carving stations.

We haven't officially picked ours yet... BUT our venue (which has a kitchen/restaurant) did these adorable passed hors d'oeuvres for an event last weekend: mini mugs of tomato soup with little triangle wedges of a grilled cheese sandwich on the edge & little shot glasses of a special ranch dip with about 4 veggie sticks in it (personal serving that way)
They also do mini crab cakes (which are supposed to be to die for)

<div>Ditto - one of the venues I looked at offered 'to go' snacks that would be served at the end of reception - milk & cookies, mini burgers, a popcorn bar, or french fries</div>

We had this bacon wrapped chicken with water chestnut.. I don't remember what it was called...and crap cakes.  Also the normal cheese/crackers/etc.

    Everyone loved them.
