Nevada-Las Vegas

stupid wedding planning...

so after Sara came back from Vegas with her suite reviews, FI and I have decided to scrap the Aria insuite idea and start from scratch (at 5 1/2 months out...ughhh)...and we are having a HARD time...
Mandalay Bay/THE hotel--all suites booked
PH----they now do not book their suites on the weekends
MGM---not big enough except for skylofts which is literally our last option
Maggianos----booked

I did get in contact with Carolyn at Trump for some info on their wedding receptions....I really like their rooms and north deck so we'll see....

Also back intouch with Yolos...

We are planning for around 30-60 guests....does anyone have any suggestions? TIA!!!

I went through the same constant changing of my mind!  Here are some prospects I had before I decided on Wynn and Joe's
I don't know your budget but here are some things you could look into:
THe Orleans --off the strip not the classiest casino but the pictures of their suites are amazing!
Mandarin Oriental ---I worked alot with Jillian Kyde (JKyde@mohg.com).  She was the best of everyone I communicated with.  She is very organized, very prompt with responses and would work with your budget.  Nice things its a gorgeous propoerty, I liked I could bring my own photographer and they are very accomodating.
Trevi at Caesars Palace forum shops --very cool layout.  Its a circle on the second floor but the prices for food and drink are reasonable.  They said they could set up tables on one side of circle and DJ/dance floor on the other.
Mix at Mandalay Bay --it has an amazing view and would be excellent for a drink/appetizer reception --worth asking about
BOA LV at Caesars Palace forum shops --- we worked with Andrea Eppilito she was very helpful except during our scouting trip.  We went to go see the property and she had "called in sick".  But before that she was very helpful.  They have a nice patio where you could have a dinner.  We decided against it because fiances mom is in a wheelchair and it would be very hard for her to get around but it would be a great place for just a dinner!

    Hope this helps!! :)

I had the same issue with the in suite's at all the other hotels. I just wasn't sure that the space would be big enough.  So we switched to The Orleans - Stardust Suite.  The pricing isn't too bad and I know it will hold everything.  And we can have a dj, even bring in some of our own liquor for the toast and the pictures are awesome.  Still trying to figure out transportation of the guests there but they do have a shuttle to and from the strip.

if you dont mind me asking, how much is the room? and are you using their catering?

junebug61103 - The suite is $3500 for a Saturday plus tax and gratuity.  That includes 2 rooms, one for the reception and one to sleep in. I am going to use their catering.  Not sure if there was an option not to use it though.

Sorry Junebug:(  I felt bad coming back with my reviews and thought of you right away.  Not knowing what your guest count is makes it really hard for the in-suite, that's why I did the scouting trip so I could see for myself.

As far as all the Suites that are already booked, were you just checking online, or did you call the hotels directly?  I would call directly just to make sure, cause sometimes things become open or the person on the phone has a better way to look, idk just a thought.

What about calling Scott at Masterpiece, maybe he has some ideas?

That rooftop option sounds pretty cool though!  Sorry again:(  And again, you obviously don't need to take my word for it on Aria, but that was my opinion on it as well as the other bride who had hers there.  Again, maybe if you majorly moved stuff around it could work.  Is there any way for you to get a better idea of what your guest count will be?  Maybe send out an Evite to try to get a general idea of who is planning on coming for sure and who already knows they can't, just a thought.....

@sara...noo dont be sorry at all...I am so glad you were able to go scout and i appreciate your opinion. I have been second guessing myself for awhile so maybe this is for the better ya know? I requested for alot of different places info so hopefully we can get this taken care of this week. And yes I called...MB is completly booked and PH doesnt book their larger suites on the weekends they are for "comping" only.

but thank you again...id rather know now than in 5 months.

Well fingers crossed for you. I was just making sure you weren't ticked at me or anything cause I didn't get a response from my email or whatever. But hope it works out!

Another option I was going to mention if available, is Grand Lux at Palazzo, not sure if you saw my reviews on them but Rich was great, the food was great, and if we didn't decide to do the Suite route we would have went with Grand Lux for sure!

    Good luck!

@sara...no not mad at all...after i read your email i called FI and was in full planning mode at work so it honestly slipped my mind. And i have contact rich at Grand Lux waiting to hear back.

I'm pretty sure you can't use outside catering with Orleans. The Stardust suite is a party suite, and the $3500 is a food and beverage minimum. I think we might be going with them. It's nice because as long as you meet that $3500 (pretty easy with food and alcohol) there is no additional "rental" fee.

I just e-mailed the Platinum about the roof-top option. Sounds cool!

@Junebug - I know Rich was going to be in NY for the holidays this week and was getting back in town like the day before x-mas, so that's probably why he hasn't responded. I emailed him too actually but didn't get an out of office reply, so I'm sure he'll get back to you when he's back in Vegas.

    Hi everyone!

My name is Nicole Mehlhaff & I am the wedding planner at The Platinum Hotel in Las Vegas. We are just a couple of minutes from the strip and have amazing locations that offer panoramic views of the strip. Most of our packages start at about $55 per person which include a champagne toast, hors d'oeuvres & dessert.

I just included an Economy Wedding Package for only $40 per person & that includes ALL taxes & service charges. At Platinum we are proud to say that there are NO rental fees, set up fees, dance floor fees, butler pass fees or even bartendar fees.

I would love the opportunity to meet with any bride to showcase our amazing property. Feel free to visit www.theplatinumhotel.com/weddings/ or call me at 702.636.2430 to set up a site visit.

    Happily Ever After,

    Nicole Mehlhaff
