Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

Lots of checks! And one thing removed completely from the list!

In the past two weeks, we:

Started pre-marital counseling
Booked our DJ (Jason Heinrichs)
Figured out our invite design (etsy seller EllasPaper)
Booked our honeymoon plane tickets
Booked our honeymoon hotel
Booked the hotel suite for "getting ready" before the ceremony
Picked out the tuxedo from Savvi
Made my first fitting appointment with Louise

We also decided not to book a block of hotel rooms.  For some reason, this was becoming the MOST STRESSFUL aspect in the planning process!  It took forever for anyone of the sales people in the hotels to get back to me, and they the rates offered were pretty comparable to what I could find online.  Maybe I'm giving up a free hotel room, but it is completely worth it for the piece of mind.  Now people will stop bugging me!

And FI and I even squeezed in a little personal time, too.  Whew!

We also decided to skip the hotel block... with everyone knowing how to use the internet these days, I feel like we can suggest a few hotels, but people can decide for themselves where they would like to stay, and where to get the best deal. It helps that we don't have a ton of out of town guests, and no hotel that is connected to our venue. Isn't it a relief to just rid yourself of a major task :)

If you are still considering the room block, I would HIGHLY recommend contacting the Convention and Visitor Bureau and let them know when your wedding is, where your reception will be and how many rooms you are thinking.  They will then send out a blast email to all of the hotels and they will email YOU competeing for your business... I read about this in a budget planning book and plan to do it for my wedding when the time comes... Hope this helps!! :)
