Movies

Any movies you look forward to seeing this summer?

Movies you've seen recently?  (old or new to the theatres)

ETA: I want to see Eat Pray Love, The Kids Are Alright, Dinner for Schmucks, and that new Will Ferral one.

Oh and Brother's is FINALLY playing on my movie channel this friday.  I can't wait.  I love Jake.

Re: Movies

  • Old: Last night, I happened to catch The Big Chill on Encore. It's one of my favorites. The soundtrack is awesome and the plot's good and it's wicked funny.

Just saw in theater: Inception. It was really ridiculously good. It's one of those that's got a complex plotline, and I need to watch it again to catch some more details. It's kind of like The Matrix, but more...plausible, I guess. Hell, it's not even really all that plausible, but the movie was really good.

I am very much looking forward to finally seeing 2012 in November when FI goes to deer camp and I have two full weeks to myself. Hehe. I'll also likely watch all 6 Saw movies in order, all in one day, just because I can. :)

We've been Netflixing 24 reruns for the last few months... just starting Season 3. It's going to be a while before we see another movie.

But a recent favorite is definitely Pride and Glory.
  • A couple of weeks ago, my H and I saw Knight and Day, and it was cuter than I'd anticipated going into it.

Sat night, my sis and I saw Dinner for Schmucks, and I would have walked out had my sis not wanted to stay; it was that boring/bad/stupid.

I want to see Despicable Me, but I'll probably wait for DVD.

My H wants to see The Other Guys and we both want to see Salt.

I have no desire to see Eat Pray Love.

I will see HP7: Part 1 at least three times in the theater. Once in 2-D, then in 3-D, then 2-D again. I know this isn't a summer movie, but it's the biggest movie I'm waiting on this year.
  • I am looking forward to seeing that Twilight parody movie. >.>

Seriously though I want to see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.  Also I haven't seen Inception yet, so I'm looking forward to that.
  • I still really want to see Despicable Me. Its playing at the drive in along with Dinner for Schmucks.

We just watched The Bounty Hunter with Jennifer whatsherface and Gerard Butler. Yummy.

And Ry watched The Losers while I was unpacking.

<3 Me too. I just reread the whole series, front to back, and I'm realizing I have time to do it again before the movie comes out. I think it comes out the Friday before my wedding maybe? If so, I will find a way to see it. Last minute details be damned, this is Harry Potter people!

  • Ahh yes, add Inception to my Deer Camp Movie List.
  • I watched Because I said So w/ my inlaws this weekend.  I liked it.  I like chick flicks that focus on mother, daughter, and/or sister relationships.

I want to see Knight and Day as well as Grown Ups.

Recently I watched Public Enemies.  Enjoyed it.

Inception is this friday.  My girlfriend and I have a date :)

  • I saw Inception and it was good. Much better than I thought it would be.

I'd see Dinnre for Schmucks, but I heard it wasn't good.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Over the World is supposed to be really good.

I think that's about all. I wouldn't mind seeing Despicable Me. I never did see Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but I think it's too late for that. The second one in the series (the Girl Who Played with Fire) is in my theater now, but obviously I won't see it if I haven't seen the first. The Kids are Alright looks okay, but I don't see movies that often anymore. I used to see 50-60 a year. Now it's less than 10.

  • Also, I have The Runaways (movie about Joan Jett) on my Netflix queue and I'm going to watch it Saturday while FI's out of the house.

  • I'd like to see Inception and FI really wants to see Despicable Me.

Like Georgia, I have no desire to see Eat, Pray, Love.  I think it's going to gloss over the "deeper parts" of the book.  But I'm judging without knowing anything about it.

I just saw Enemy of the State on tv and it was ridiculous, but I watched it anyway.

From Netflix we've recently watched Invictus which was kind of boring, Taking Lives which is older and should have ended about 45 earlier than it did, and 28 Days Later which FI said he remembered being really good, but it bored the crap out of me.

  • I haven't even heard of these movies you guys are talking about (well except HP).  I don't pay attention to what's in theaters because I know I'll never end up going.

I just saw Alice in Wonderland last night and thought it was dumb.  I SOOOO want to see Eclipse really badly, but will probably just be patient and wait for the DVD and buy it so I can watch it 800 time to catch up with everyone else like I did with New Moon.

    I'm lame, I know it.
  • I'm waiting to reread Deathly Hallows until closer to time because I want to absorb the details so I can remember them while I watch. If I read it now, I'd just forget the little stuff.

Oh, I also watched Up a couple weeks ago.

    Loved it.

Even the first part that I bawled through (when I realized what was coming) and my H made fun of me.
  • We just went to see Inception last weekend. LC I agree it was great and complex, I told DH it was like the Matrix meets the Bourne series.

We rented Cop Out w/ Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan. Funny if you have a sick sense of humor. We havent watched our Netflix movie yet, the Fourth Kind.

Our little nephew is visiting this weekend so I'm trying to get his mother to see Despicable Me.

And Mandy I do want to see Live, Eat Pray also.

Have you seen that iPhone 4 commercial where the woman tells her H (presumably) that she's pregnant? I saw it last night and it made me cry and FI made fun of me for like an hour.

  • I want to see Inception, but I KNOW my H wouldn't get it, and I would either feel the need to explain the whole thing, or he would just leave the theater feeling like he'd wasted his time, so I'll proabably put it in my queue when the time comes.
  • Our last Netflix was In Her Shoes. And I re-watched American Graffiti this weekend.

We've been catching up on Dexter.

My BFF is a HUGE Runaways/Joan Jett fan, but she hates Kristin Stewart and I hate Dakota Fanning, so we never saw it. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

Yes! I cry at all types of commericals. The Pedigree one, with the shelter dogs? The worst! At least they keep that ASPCA one with Sarah McLachlan on Animal Planet. The Pedigree one could hit you anywhere, anytime.
  • TR - I thought Taking Lives was the most PREDICTABLE movie I have ever seen. "Oh, gee. We're only an hour in and the whole thing is solved. Whatever will happen now?" I wasted 2 hours of my life on that. I saw it like 6 years ago when it came out and I'm still pissed.

I had absolutely no desire to read Eat, Pray, Love and therefore even less desire to see it in movie form. It seemed more like a self-help book so it wouldn't translate well to a linear plot line anyway, no?

I just feel awkward during that commercial.  I did cy at least 3 times during Up, though, so I'm not totally unfeeling.

On the subject of movies, did anyone see The Box with Cameron Diaz and James Marsden?  It seems like the kind of movie I'd like, but I think it got bad reviews.

  • That's what I thought, Mery, so I never read it. Plus, Julia Roberts just grates.
  • Haven't seen a lot because we can't justify $20 for movie tickets this closer to the wedding haha.

BUT, we want to see Inception, Despicable Me, the new Will Feral movie, and Dinner with Schmucks.  I also want to see Salt because I portion of it was filmed about 2 miles from where I worked and I drove by and saw it :-).

I don't care to see Eat, Pray, Love

I have it on my Que, but I'm not sure when I'll get it. It does look strange. But DH loves Cameron Diaz so he'll like it anyway.

  • We watched Marley & Me last night and it depressed me. We might go see Inception on Thursday, or Salt. Either one is fine by me.

I usually don't know what's in theaters, I know what's coming out on DVD because I buy movies rather than go to the theater. it's kind of an addiction. I bought Repo Men and Clash of the Titans, we watched both the other day.
