best ring cleaner suggestions?...

Hi Ladies!

I just got engaged last week and cannot stop admiring my ring! I love when it is nice and clean, and wanted to get some ideas on what you clean your rings with? Any crazy homemade solutions? Any tricks to quick cleaning when I'm out on the run and not home? I do have the standard cleaning solution from the jewelers, but I know sometimes there are craftier ways of doing things!

I'm sure the novelty will wear off and I'll clean it less and less, but for right now I am obsessing like a mad woman!

TIA for your suggestions. Hope you all had a great holiday :)

Re: best ring cleaner suggestions?...

  • I use a typical jewelery cleaner for at home (I think it's based with ammonia? I dunno, but it smells like cat pee when I open it, so I'm just assuming. lol.) It works really well and lasts awhile.

For when I'm away or in a hurry, hot water and dish soap works well.

And every few months or so I'll take it in to the jeweler to have them professionally clean it.

  • In also use windex. Or when I wash my hands I just rub the soap lather agaisnt my ring with my right palm. But seriously, windex for the win.

  • 1 part windex and 1 part water in a microwave safe dish.  heat up for about 30-45 seconds. Take out and add ring into liquid.  let sit until cool.
I do this all the time with my ring and diamond earrings.  Works like a charm.  They shine more than when I used actual jewelry cleaner.

  • My solution is similar to the Windex that others have mentioned.  I use 1 part Mr. Clean, 3 parts water.  Heat for 30 seconds, then put your ring in.  Use a toothbrush to clean it.  This was recommended to me by my jeweler and it works fabulously.
