Do I get my guest book attendant a gift?

Re: Do I get my guest book attendant a gift?

  • For all you Sex and the City fans...

Carrie: Are you sure you can leave the Guest Book unattended?
    Miranda: It's a bullshit job.
  • I'm having two of my really close friends be on the guestbook! I put them together so they could have fun and wouldn't be alone and one of them can hand out programs. I'm getting them both gifts but smaller ones than the rest of my bridal party.

I was on the guestbook at one of my childhood friend's wedding and I was honored to be a part of the wedding at all! Definitely give them some sort of gift or thank you, though, to let them know how much you appreciate them!
  • I know I'm late on this...

From what I am seeing I think maybe it is more common in some parts of the country more than others. It is very common around here and I myself have been a GBA. I can see both sides. I never thought anything of it to be honest. I have never heard anything negative before TK either. I also have been the "official cake cutter" for a friends wedding. I am not having a GBA and I am not having anyone cut the cake. I decided a small 2 tier cake for FI and I to cut then we are having cake balls set up on towers all around it. When I told my close friends (who are not BM's) that I was not having a GBA or having anyone cut my cake they were actually really disappointed and were making it very clear they didn't mind and they would be honored. I told them I didn't want anyone to have a job at the wedding and just wanted everyone to enjoy themselves as our guest. They really were disappointed though. Some people I think just really want to be a part of your day even if that means doing a tedious "job". I can see why maybe some people would not be too enthused.

  • I loved being a BM in BIL and SIL's wedding.

If they asked me to be guestbook attendant I would have laughed and not done it.
