We where together for a while back in 1998 but we where both young and still wanting to do our own thing.. Met again 11 years later and he told me he knew I was the one right from the start... He asked me to marry him and I brushed him off.. May of 2010.. I finally agreed.. We are in full planning mode... But I havent gotten my ring just yet. Wedding date 9 8 2012

Glad to hear i'm not the only one in that boat, we're not officially engaged yet, and to the best of my knowledge he doesn't have my ring but we've been together for just over 3 months this time (we had dated previously, but i felt we were getting to serious for where i was at the time (18) and ended things, we recently reconnected through facebook

I think you're asking the wrong question; ask "is this it?" versus " how long did it take?" I waited for true love despite opportunities to just get married in the past, and though my FI and I knew we would get married within the first year, we didn't get engaged till around our three-year anniversary. I see a lot of people rush into getting engaged cause they feel "it's time" but I know people of all ages who marry and remarry and it's still wonderful. The bottom line is, sometimes it works when people meet and marry very quickly, but the divorce rate is still about 50%--so just be sure in your heart that he's the one. And he should be honest about that, too. There are a lot of reasons a guy could want to wait to pop the question--feeling "old", scared to move to having kids, worried about the expenses of a wedding, etc. that only have to do with him, even though he knows his woman is it. Keep the faith!
