New & Excited...Help with TheKnot

Hey There,
I am newly engaged & new to The Knot...Which seems to be a bit overwhelming for a newbie. We live in Phoenix but are getting married in Minnesota, probably somewhere around, but not in, MSP/STP for budget purposes. Any suggestions on where to begin, or to start, how to set up some of the fun signatures/countdowns for the message board?

We have started to email venues so far to narrow them down a bit, but since we live in Phoenix and will have few visits back to MN I want to make sure we make the best use of our time.

We have our 1st visit back in Sept and plan on Venue shopping and dress shopping at The Wedding Shoppe, any other suggestions?

TIA

Ashley

First...Welcome to the boards... the ladies here are wonderful at answering questions and providing helpful feedback. Second, I think the venue question depends on your budget and the type of things that you are looking to have included. Have you figured out your budget yet?

    Welcome to the board!

Ditto aabrahams - We need a bit more info, to get you in the direction you want to go.  Looks like you have a date, so that's a great start!  Do you have an estimated guest count?  As that will narrow down choices for you also, along with the budget.

    Congrats and welcome!

Why did you choose MN?  Are you or your FI from here originally?  The ladies on here are super helpful.  Good luck on the long distance planning.

    Hi,

I'm in the same boat!  I"m looking to get married in Stillwater, Hudson, St. Paul, Hastings or the Woodbury areas.  I will be having about 250, would love to have it outdoors but don't want to pay crazy amounts of money!  Any thoughts?

To mhuppert, Stillwater popped an idea in my head. I found a place I wanted to get married at, but we are now doing a winter wedding, so the outdoor part wouldn't work too well!

It's called Trellis. It looks absolutely amazing!! It's not too pricey, but I also don't know your budget! Good Luck to all!

    THANKS!!

We have narrowed our Venues down to 5 so far to look at while we are there, has anyone checked into any of these?
Stonebrooke - Shakopee (Favorite So Far)
    Minnetonka Country Club
    North Oaks Golf Club
    Mississippi Dunes - Cottage Grove
    Stone Ridge - Stillwater

While I am there I am going dress shopping, checking out all of these venues and booking my videographer and photographer.  It should be a pretty productive trip if I can do all of it without going crazy.
