Prayers of the Faithful

Hi ladies- I am a non-Catholic marrying a Catholic in a few weeks.  We are finishing up our last-minute details for the wedding ceremony (just the rites, no mass) and we decided we wanted to write our own prayers of the faithful for the ceremony instead of using the generic ones.  Did any of you do this?  If so, would you mind sharing some examples with me?

Thank you!

I'll share two versions. One was read at my sister's wedding by our aunt, and the other was read at our wedding by our good friend.

    Here's one:

    Prayers of the Faithful:

For the Church.  That our leaders may continue to appreciate the loyal, and call home those who have strayed.  May we reunite and make the church a place of comfort, faith, and guidance for generations to come.

Let us pray to the Lord…

For all married persons, that they may continue their journey of love and companionship, be grateful for their union, and trust in God to guide them through difficult times.

Let us pray to the Lord…

For those who have died, especially Hillari's Grandma Rose and Uncle Lenny, and Tom's Grandparents,  Marvin & Mildred, Evelyn & Miles.  May their spirits shine upon us and help guide us, as we continue to remember and honor them.

Let us pray to the Lord…

For those who suffer from hunger, illness, poor health, oppression and loneliness.  We pray that we hear their pleas, as God does, and reach out to those in need.

Let us pray to the Lord…

For all those gathered here today;  loved ones, family members, and friends.  That we all have safe journeys, enjoy good health and happiness.

Let us pray to the Lord…

For Hillari & Tom, whose souls brought them together, and brought us here today.

May they always be able to communicate with one another, to trust and to forgive.

May God remain their foundation and guide them through their lives together.

May their children teach them how truly precious life is, and may all the angels in the heavens watch over them this day, and grant them every blessing in their power.

Let us pray to the Lord…

    Here's another:

Please respond:  “Lord, hear our prayer.”

For Our Lady of Lourdes, and all places of worship, that they be respected by everyone; and for all faiths, that they teach understanding and acceptance of the differences in our world.

*We pray to the Lord...          Lord, hear our prayer.

For world leaders, that they work for the good of all countries and consider the needs of all their people.

*We pray to the Lord...          Lord, hear our prayer.

For all loved ones who have gone before us, especially Alyssa’s Grandma Rose and Uncle Lenny, and Mike’s Great-Grandpa Bob, that they find peace and fulfillment in eternal life.

*We pray to the Lord...          Lord, hear our prayer.

For everyone who has traveled here, from near and far, to witness Mike & Alyssa’s wedding, that they return home safely after today’s celebration.

*We pray to the Lord...          Lord, hear our prayer.

For all loving couples, that they find peace and love in each other.

*We pray to the Lord...          Lord, hear our prayer.

For Alyssa and Mike, that they feel the happiness we wish them today for a lifetime.

*We pray to the Lord...          Lord, hear our prayer.

We wrote our own, here is what we used:

For peace that begins within, that spreads through our families, churches, communities, and world.
    We Pray to the Lord.

For all who suffer-for the hungry, the sick, the anxious, the lonely: that God comfort them in their sorrow and care for them.
    We Pray to the Lord.

For Bride's Name and Groom's Name, and all married couples:  that God fill their hearts and their homes with love, and delight them with unexpected joy in each other.
    We Pray to the Lord.

For all of us gathered here on this happy occasion:  that God enfold us in contentment and security and bless us with family and friendship.
    We Pray to the Lord.

For those who travel…that God keep them safe on their journey and protect them from every harm.
    We Pray to the Lord.

For those who have died:  especially, bride’s mother,  xxxxxx, grooms’s uncle xxxxxx, and other members of the brides' family name  and groom's family name families, that they live in happiness with God, enjoying forever what eye has not seen, ear has not heard and heart has not dreamed.
    We Pray to the Lord.

For the prayers we hold silently in our hearts: ........
    We Pray to the Lord.
