Wedding Dress Anxiety - Could someone be wearing your dress?!

I bought from a shop in my local area and although it's not a chain store I am going to a few more weddings this year. I am so sick in my stomach that one of the brides will come marching down the aisle in my dress. Am I the only one?

Re: Wedding Dress Anxiety - Could someone be wearing your dress?!

  • I think the chances are pretty slim of that happening :) I haven't even considered it since I won't be going to any other weddings.

  • I'm only headed to one wedding before mine and I know the dress as I'm in the wedding. Even if I was going to more and the bride wore the same dress, I'd probably be the only one who would notice as the same dress looks different on different people, plus different accessories/hair/makeup.

  • I'm only going to Indian weddings between now and our wedding, but I don't think that would cross my mind.

  • In all the weddings I've gone to I've never noticed it, so I doubt other people would.

  • Yea, I've never really thought about this either. It wouldn't bother me if it happened, though.

  • I bought my dress (its a Davids Bridal dress) and I swear to you, since that day, I have seen it in every commercial of theirs, every ad and even at two bridal shows I've attended. My co-worker showed me pics from her cousin's wedding (recently married) and she said to me, "isn't this your dress?".

I've just had to let it go. There is always that slight chance that someone else will wear the dress, but they are not you and your wedding will still be unique and special, regardless of how many people have worn that dress. I had a little dress regret initially because of this, but Im over it now.

I wonder if we have the same dress!  I keep seeing mine in their advertisements--an Oleg Cassini.

I've been to four weddings and invited to a fifth since we got engaged (not even four months ago).  No one had my dress, but when I heard that my cousin was going dress shopping, the thought did cross my mind, "What if she picks MY DRESS?!?!?"  She didn't, and I understand that it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'd be really disappointed.  And then I'd tell myself to suck it up.

  • I'm not worried about it at all. If it did happen, doubt I or anyone else would notice or care.

  • I absolutely had the same thought! By the time we get married we will attend 5 weddings (since our engagement).  Couple of the weddings I knew what the bride was wearing but for the others I held my breath as the bride stepped out, and was relieved she wasn't wearing MY dress lol I think my dress is pretty unique so I wasn't too worried but the thought certainly crossed my mind :)
