I hate people who bitch about their money situation but do absolutely nothing about it.  Someone I know constantly complains the lack of money from her pay check, how she can't afford this, can't afford that (needs rather than wants) and yet she spends a good chunk every weekend on her wants when she could be putting it towards food for her family.  I'm not saying you should lead a dull life while living pay check to pay check but life is about choices.  You've made yours, live with it.
In Response to Re: FFF : I agree with the sometimes.  However, if you are just asking "what photographer would you recommend" then I think they do need to look at the sticky.  They can see what photographers we are using and do their research.  Now, if they are deciding between a few photographers and have specific questions, then yes, ask us.  But, don't just come to the boards and expect us to do all the work for you.
Posted by serlace
I agree.  I understand the part about the comraderie, but sometimes the same 'what photographer would you recommend' comes up several times within just a 2 week window.  All that it would take is to look at the vendor sticky or read back a few pages.  And... the same question usually gets the same handful of answers over and over again...

YES! Same applies to my "budget bride" friends. I have a friend getting married next year and she complains CONSTANTLY because they can't afford this or that, how he refuses to help her save for it, etc etc etc. but yet they are still spending a LOT on unneccessary things just so she can have exactly what she wants. I think they are going to go into more debt after this stupid wedding.
Meanwhile while she's complaining about "how am I going to afford it?" they are out to dinner at NICE restaurants almost every other night (Foursquare doesn't lie about where you are!)
I get a lot of anger directed towards me cause I've managed to find what I want at the price I want and have a savings plan in place so i'm not paying it off after.

I really want to tell her "if you are having this much trouble getting the other half to come up with a savings plan just for a wedding, you really need to re-think this whole situation."

Hmmm...not sure how fff goes...but i'll take a chance...

I flame my FMIL for her "fear" of flying, and "finances" as to why she wouldnt be able to make it to our wedding in NYC (yet she flew to mexico to "vacation" a few months ago.), which in turn caused a heated convo between FI & I, which resulted in us now planning a TX wedding.

I didn't really realize it when I got ready this morning...but I'm wearing an Express top with ruffles around the neck, my boot-shoes have ruffles on them, and so does my purse.

Anna--Pearl Harbor is SO close to the airport, and the wait for tours is not too long...how long will you have on the island? You should be good on time unless you're only left with 2-3 hours. There are very few places on Oahu that I would really want to see again, and PH is definitely one of them. Incredibly moving.

7 years later, I would like to flame the Japanese tourist that laughed while looking down @ the Airzona. I have some choice words for this individual; maybe he was laughing at his friend or something, but wrong time/wrong place, buddy. I wanted to push you in.

Courtney - We'll arrive in Honolulu around 10:30am and we leave for Lihue around 5:30. We were originally supposed to leave around 7:30. We're getting a rental car for the day so we'll have to have time to pick it up and drop it off, and I was hoping to have a nice leisurely dinner on Oahu. I'm sure we'll still have plenty of time, it's just kind of annoying that they changed our flight time by that much. Is that normal?

You will definitely have enough time for Pearl Harbor.  As for the dinner, you may have to pick between more exhibits @ the memorial or dinner.

We did the memorial (obviously) and then went to the aviation museum and a tour of the USS Missouri.  We chose not to see the submarine museum.  The USS Arizona Memorial was a must, and the USS Missouri tour was AWESOME!  You get to walk all through the battleship, and see where the crew lived a worked.  You get to see the documents that were signed by the military leaders ending WWII, and other neat things.  Unless you are a huge aviation buff (like my DH) the aviation museum was nice, but not anything special.  I suspect the submarine museum is the same way.

You'll have a blast!

Since we're on the topic of airlines....I flame the airlines in general.  Why are flights to St Lucia so complicated?  I have to pay a lot for a flight that has 2 stops and next day arrival.  Yet the one flight that actually leaves early in the morning and then gets there same day and is still cheaper than the rest.....is out of Houston!  And we wouldn't have time to have our wedding on Saturday night and then get to Houston by 5:40 in the morning.  Ugh!

Is she going for a World Record, or is there a significance with the skirt and dress wearing? Did someone bet her that she couldn't? It seems like such a mundane and pointless thing to pride yourself on, and then post for all to see.
Maybe we should ask the etiquette board what their take is...I'm sure they would LOVE that!! I think I'll stick to my Peggy Post 'Wedding Etiquette' for all Q&A after seeing their FFF.

I realize this was a few pages ago, but here's my issue with the Vendor Sticky.

Yes, it's a list that has everyone's vendors on it.  But...there may be someone that you really wanted, but couldn't get because of scheduling/money/etc.  There may be a vendor that you would have preferred but your FI didn't.  So, why can't you recommend those?  They're obviously not on the list, but you can still tell a new bride, "hey, here's someone you could look into."

OR you did use them, but hated them.  So, obviously you wouldn't recommend them to someone, but they're still on the vendor sticky list.  There are brides who post their vendor reviews all the time that say they wouldn't use that person again, or would have liked someone else.  Things happen.

I tend to agree with everyone.

There are lots of people I might have used had they been available on my day and/or had they been in my budget.

There are also people I wouldn't have touched with a 10 foot pole.

All valuable info.

Plus, current opinions DO matter.  Like someone mentioned a DJ this week that was highly recommended here a year ago, that is just doin an "OK" job now.
