Calling all Home Decorators

I am planning on installing a new bathroom in my house on the main floor. New as in, roughing in a door and putting in plumbing. I'm still in the planning stage right now. So, any ideas, suggestion, advice is welcome.

The plan right now is to go as neutral as possible, so white fixtures and chrome. So, now thinking about colour schemes for tile and walls.

And go....

Liv - What do you think of the idea of a dark vanity with light coloured granite counter? Based on your first photo I think it could work because of the rack on the wall.

Ooooh, we're redoing a bathroom now. I promise to come back to this after I go home and photograph our floor tiles and fixtures.

It's puuuuurrrrrrrddddddddyyyy.

Floor- black with streaks and flecks of silver. I think it's iron.

We're still picking out wall tiles. Mom can't find what she wants. Some sort of undulated bright white tile in 6x6 with little mosaic black tiles interspersed randomly.

That does look good. I'm just trying to figure everything out. I want to stay true to the era of the house, but it is a challenge.

For example, we need a door knob like this (click) to match the rest of the house.

Not entirely positive about the exact age because the previous owners just said "really old".

Based on the neighbourhood my guess is the 1920s or 1930s.

Alright- Well, I've done a smidge bit of research. (clicky)

This was a crane advertisement from the 20s-

I read that the style of the time was Colonial Revival and there were many types of vanity designs. The following vanity is supposedly inspired by these times:

I really like the paint color- but I thought it needed an accent- so I threw it through the Behr coordinator and got this:

There are some bolder color combinations, but from what I've read- pastels were in.

And now I can go home from work now- I've accomplished something good. LOL.

It is hard to describe, my house has been torn apart by previous owners, so I don't think there is anything original except for maybe a couple of doors and the stairs. I just don't want to go too modern with the bathroom, which can be kind of challenging. Trying to do that blend of modern and vintage at the same time...bah, maybe I'm crazy.

It'll be for a vanity. Although I do like the look of pedestal sinks, we have to look at making the most of storage space in this house.

I had also liked this one, but it is way too expensive. The American Standard one is bad enough. Either way it tell me that I need to shop in the US. The first faucet is $100 more expensive in Canada then it is in the USA, both prices coming from Home Depot.

I like that first one...it reminds me of the art deco that started in Paris in the 1920s. I dig it!

Great! I was a little concerned with the choice initially because no other faucets look like that on the market really.
