Wedding Woes

recommend your car

looking for car recs. something with good gas milage, preferably 5 door and all wheel drive.

I am partial to Subarus - and am looking at the Outbacks - they're most similar to what was destroyed (legacy wagon) - but am open to new suggestions.

If I go to work tomorrow, I'll be in training all day, but I'll check in.

TIA!

I love my Matrix, but if the Venza had been out I probably would have gone with that.  I've also been checking out the subarus.  Is there a reason you need AWD?  You aren't in Pittsburgh anymore.  Front wheel drive should be more than sufficient.

crf- You do know that a lot of those "Asian cars" are made in the US too right?  And a lot of those American are not so much.

Houston has a tendency to flash flood, so even though it's flat, i would feel a bit more secure in bad weather.

my last Subaru was manufactured in IL. not sure about the "asian car" hate - i hear they are much better at math and science ;-)

    Gotcha.

DH used to build Hondas.  He's never been to Japan.

My dad works for a Japanese company.  I love hearing his secretary call him Herbie-san.

A hatchback isn't a wagon, but we got a Nissan Versa last year and I really like it :)

We have a 2WD Acadia.  I love it, but it's pretty massive (i.e. gas hog).  I love that it stays parked while I work at home.  ;)

Everyone I know who has a Subaru loves it.  I like the Toyota Venza's.  BIL/SIL and my sister/BIL both have used NIssan Murano's and they really seem to like them.  Nissan Rogue may also be comparable to what you had before.

chrissy is racist and/or a car ignoranus.

subaru outbacks became subaru foresters; outbacks used to be station wagons like the legacy and now they are crossovers.  foresters used to be crossovers and now they are suvs.  SIGH -- they grow up so fast!

with the dog gear and the kid gear, i would look more at the forester than the outback.  subarus cost a little more, but the basic package has a little more than comparable cars.

beyond that, similar cars are the honda crv, the nissan rogue (<-- HEE) and the toyota rav 4.

i envy you -- i love a good test drive!

This.  I have to keep DH away from car dealerships though or we'll end up with a new every year.  He's a car whore.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee.  While the interior features are nice, the gas is killer.  Do not buy.

I also have a Nissan Versa and love it.  The Rogue seems very similar, but closer to the size you're looking for.

My Toyota was built in Kentucky.  I didn't even import across state borders.

I can't recommend my car because it doesn't meet your needs. I have a Chevy Prism, which is essentially a corolla. I love it.

I love that the Year of Fun started off with hmo calling someone a racist.

Oh.  Poo.  I love my Altima.  But it is not AWD or 5 door.  It is spacious and gas friendly though.

I do love that Subaru SUV though....droool!

I have a Mazda 5 and love it.  The passenger doors slide and it has a 3rd row seat, which I keep folded down for more cargo space.

I had a nissan versa hatchback too, and I also loved it. But it turns out Anti lock brakes don't come standard on that car. Do not want (I didn't realize they even made cars without that feature nowadays!)
I want a Nissan Rogue. They're real purdy.

I love that car too, CW.  Also the Juke, because I'm a 14 y.o. boy at heart.
