Ideas for Something Borrowed

Hi Ladies! I'm stumped! What are all of you using for your "something borrowed?" I want a clever idea.. my something new are my earrings (unless the fi gets me a pretty pretty present for the wedding (: ), my something old is my great grandmother's wedding band, my something blue is my garter OR pale blue toe nail polish (I haven't decided if I'm going to be that daring yet -- EEK!) but I am COMPLETELY stuck on something borrowed.. What else can you possibly wear? haha HELP! <3

Re: Ideas for Something Borrowed

  • Well, it's supposed to be something borrowed from a woman with a strong and healthy marriage.  So maybe ask a couple of women who fit the bill if they have anything they might be willing to loan you for the wedding.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I'm borrowing my mom's diamond tennis bracelet for the ceremony.
  • Ask your Mom or FMIL for something. It could be a purse, veil, ring, hankie, anything.
  • I'm borrowing my sister's diamond earings
  • thank you all so much for all of the great ideas! liz, your cameo pin inspired me. i had already asked a very close friend who has been happily married for a few years to loan me "something," but we couldn't figure out what! we were sorority sisters in college, so i am going to borrow her pin to attach to my bouquet. we think it symbolizes love and commitment. :)

  • You could always paint your toe nails blue. Its a little less daring than fingers.

For something borrowed I am wearing a ring my dad gave my mom for her 16th birthday.
  • The something borrowed if your catholic could be a rosary my cousins wife did this and had it draped in her bouquet. Also you could borrow a friends jewely they wore for their day

  • I'm borrowing 2 strands of pearls - When my uncle and Godfather passed many years ago, my aunt had her triple strand of pearls he bought her when he was stationed in Japan.  She split the strand and gave them to my cousins, and I.  So I'm reuniting the 3 strands again to have him with me.  Also borrowing a cameo that belonged to my mother's mom, and an embroidered hanky that will wrap my flowers that was my dad's mom - they don't belong to me, - but they also fit the bill for something old.  For blue - I have blue sapphire bracelet and ring that my FI gave as gifts.  Also bought blue "I DO" rhinestones that are stuck to the arch of my shoes soles.  Even got a pair to put on his shoes - looking forward to having a photo of both of us walking on the beach with shoes in hand behind our back with shoes that state the obvious "I DO!"

  • oh crap, i have no idea. i havent thought of that! haha
  • My something borrowed which is awesome...
My dad's mom (my grandmother) passed away 3 years ago. I will be wearing one of her wedding rings on my right hand.
My mom's mom (my other grandmother) is letting me borrow a diamond ring my Pepe gave her when she was 16. again will be worn on my right hand.

I wanted something from them that reminds them of their wedding because both of the have been married once and are happy. I want to be that happy so I am hoping to steal some of that juju.

I hope this idea helps you.

  • I'm borrowing my FMIL's Greek crowns, or "stefana," for the ceremony and a fur stole from either a friend or a furrier. :)  I'm a winter, WI bride so that might not work.  Jewelry is the most popular, or maybe you could borrow a ritual from your parent's ceremony.
