Hi - I'm a first time poster - getting married in Boston on 1/16/11. Need some advice -
we are getting married in a restaurant and would like to hire a mobile/small-scale DJ for post-dinner dancing, cocktails, and dessert. We found someone we really like and are meeting him Saturday. Unfortunately, I have no conception of how much DJs cost - approximately how much should I anticipate him to quote me for three hours? Mind you, I'm requesting a DJ to play music, without any bells and whistles. Thanks!

    Our DJ charges $900 for 4 hours for a wedding.  However, for a party they only charge $400 (music only, not emcee-ing the event I guess).  For you I bet you are looking in a similar ballpark.

    We are paying $1100 for 5 hours, no emceeing, but he does have to set up 2 different stations (cocktail hour and reception)
