We're not doing a candy buffet, but I had planned on doing the custom MMS as one of our favors. But ouch... They aren't cheap! Anyone know of any candy alternatives that we can still slightly customize to our colors?
  • Considering it. My mom really likes the idea, but I don't think she knows how much it costs. I have to research it more.

  • I didn't realize the cost either.

the cost of any of the candy is not cheap at all.

  • FI wants one, so I am trying to fit it in the budget. I found containers at Goodwill for 13 for 35. Now I'm just researching candy sites and prices. Not to mention researching when to order everything to keep it fresh.

  • We aren't doing one. I've read several places that if you have multiple desserts and your wedding cake that the wedding cake won't end up getting eaten. We are having a wedding cake, and we're on a somewhat smaller budget so we aren't doing a candy buffet. Our favors are going to be the photos people get from the photobooth we're going to have. I'm sure your guests will enjoy the candy buffet though.
  • I really really wanted one but my venue is being a little.... difficult.

They won't let us bring any food from outside in, and since they offer their own candy bar package option they won't allow us to do our own. And their bar plays more on the lines of movie theatre-ish whereas I wanted something more classier with the gorgeous glass vases and stuff like that (And possibly a colour theme)

So that idea went out the window fairly quickly.

(Oh, and their cost was like 4 times more what it would've cost me to purchase everything myself as well!)

  • Not doing one.  I briefly considered it until my dad started having all his health issues with his diabetes and heart and then I began to realize how many people I knew that had diabetes.  Several don't manage their diabetes very well and, while I know they're adults and make their own choices in the long run, I decided I didn't need to add temptation onto the already present wedding cake. I'm probably waaaaayyyyy over thinking that, LOL.

I plan to do one for our vow renewal. I've decided to add homemade cookies to the mix for two reasons: 1. there's a good chunk of my family that isn't fond of candy but enjoy cookies and 2. it'll beef up the buffet without adding a big expense. I'll pick things like oatmeal and peanut butter (family favorites that disappear FAST at all our family get-togethers) that can be made ahead and easily frozen.

We are doing a candy buffet and I got out to do it a little cheaper because we are having a beach themed reception so we are using beach buckets and for our candy choice list so far are: Mm's not personalized...too expensive for 400 people Licorice To Tootsie rolls Gum balls Starbursts Salt water taffy Skittles Jelly beans Gummi bears Peppermint stars Pastel mints Jolly ranchers
  • We were going to do one but after pricing it out it was way too expensive! We got a good deal on a photobooth so we're doing that and some kind of photo strip frame to give out as the favors. I'm hoping to be able to use the frames as the seating cards too.

  • One of my bridesmaids JUST offered one as a gift from her and her mother for us the other day! LOL! We still have to find out if its allowed at our venue, but I'm hoping it is...

I saw someone else post wanting an alternative to the personalized M&M's that cost an arm and leg? The little hershey kisses, you can get little round stickers, print from your computer onto them your names and date or whatever you want to personalize them with, then stick them to the bottom of the kisses yourself. probably costs WAY less than either personalized M&Ms or kisses Smile
