July 2012 Weddings

Vent: Dad frustrating me

So, we are 10 days out from the wedding. My dad's contribution to the wedding is the music and the booze. We have the music figured out, but there is still no booze. I have talked to him more than once and told him what the caterer recommended in terms of type, amount, etc. We are going to order the kegs through the caterer and then provide the wine and champagne. Each time Dad and I talk about it, he acts like it's the first time he's ever heard it. I know he has contacted the caterer directly and has talked with them about it as well!  Now he wants to set up a meeting with the caterer to discuss the alcohol!! What could possibly be left to discuss?! UGH.  I am just very frustrated and nervous because we are so close to the wedding. It is totally in my dad's fashion to wait until the last minute to do anything so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Just needed to vent. Thanks gals.

  • That sucks, but I say just let him have a meeting- maybe you can go with him to make sure all of the details are worked out??

  • I agree with mekiakoo - make him take his check book out at the meeting and get it over with

  • Oh, I am definitely going. I think my dad is convinced that the caterer is just trying to get as much $$ out of us as possible which is not the case at all. If anything, the caterer has been so upfront and honest with us --they told us it would save us $ to bring our own alcohol rather than getting everything through them. They are even offereing to order the kegs for us so we don't have to chill them ourselves and get an ABC license.

  • Yeah I would let him have the meeting with them, and soon! I would definitely go to the meeting as well so you can be present and get all the details.  I know a lot of people who just like to wait until the end, but don't you have to order the kegs and other alcohol soon to make sure you have it in time?

  • The meeting is Thursday...8 days before the wedding! I hope it will be enough time to order kegs. :-/
