appropriate dress length

A 1pm wedding in June, semi-formal...would it be appropriate for a long dress on my MOH? Indoor wedding and ceremony, very little time spent outside.

Shd said she likes long but was worried it would be too formal. I told her she should wear whatever made her comfortable. I truly am indifferent but the more I thought about it, the more I began to wonder and worry too,lol!

I think fabric and other detailing, instead of length will dictate the formality. Summery chiffon fabrics will look less formal than a fitted long satin or taffeta gown.

We had a 3pm outdoor ceremony, and my BMs chose long dresses. They looked fine. They were satin DB dresses. I imagine a chiffon would have been more "summery", but the dresses didn't look inappropriate.

I would avoid sequins or anything with a ton of bling, but otherwise, length doesn't really matter.

If the venue where the ceremony & reception will be at have air conditioning, she should be fine w/long. But if no A/C, she may want to consider shorter. If she doesn't want to go short (around knee length) depending on the style of the dress she might be able to have a long dress shortened to tea length as another option to consider.
