White vs Off-white or Ivory dress

Hi girls,
I recently ordered my dress at White Dress By the Shore and I absolutley LOVE it.  I originally thought that I wanted a white white dress, but I am fair skinned with really blonde hair and the off-white just looked much better on me.  The sample that I tried on in the store was the off-white and I dont think anyone will be able to tell that it's off-white.  I dont know why I am obsessing about this, I just dont want people to tell that its not a white dress.  I mean, it looks white unless you have something really white next to it.  What color did you ladies decide on?

I wouldn't worry.  I think off-white or ivory just complements people's skin better.  I ordered mine in ivory and I love it. I remember going to White Dress and being surprised that the dresses I tried on WEREN'T white.  I couldn't even tell the difference.
Since my dress is ivory, I ordered FI and the groomsmen's shirts in ivory as well.

I wore ivory. White only works for some people.

My dress color was called 'natural' because it was silk and was the natural color of the material...it was neither bright white nor ivory...somewhere in the middle.

There are SO many variations of white in terms of wedding dresses nowadays, so I wouldn't worry one bit about it.  I would stick to whatever shade works best with your skin tone, which it sounds like you did.

I'm wearing ivory lace over a gold satin underlay. I didn't try on much that was white-white because it was just too stark for my tastes. I don't think anyone will think twice about your dress not being white - i mean, if it was fuscia or blue or something, that's different. Enjoy your dress and don't obsess.

    PS, pics? Here's mine!

My dress was ivory/off white. I tried on a different dress by the same designer in pure white and it looked terrible on me. I think it really all depends on your complexion.

I am SUPER pale and the pure white didn't do anything for me. I went with the ivory because it was more flattering.

My dress was ecru... actually had a lot of color.  A pure snow white is often too harsh on most people.   I'm sure your dress will be fine and it will be more than obvious that it's 'white'.

Yea it really depends on the person. I bought an off-white/ivory-ish dress but I also did try on diamond white (very white with some "shine") which wasn't bad either...

I decided on a stark white taffeta dress.  I am fair-skinned with dark hair, so people had tried to convince me to go with an ivory dress.  I had always wanted a bright white dress, so I put my foot down and decided to order it in white after only being able to try on the dress in ivory.  I was so happy with my decision!

I think that as long as you feel beautiful in the color you choose, you can't go wrong with either!

    Here's my dress!:

Mine is white as well! I tried mine on in ivory and since it's mostly tulle I was worried it would look dirty. I ordered it in white and I love it. I think a lot of people think white will be BLINDINGly white- and I was a little nervous- but it came in and it's beautiful. Not a bright white at all.

You should be fine with ivory!! No one is gonna know.

You'll be the only one in any shade of white. Nobody is going to think it's not a white dress.Get what you like and a dress that looks awesome on you.

I don't think anyone gets a true white dress unless their skin tone is darker.  If you have a lighter skin tone, true white just makes you look paler.  My dress was diamond white and I had a fake tan going on.  The flower girl's dress is true whtie on top.

I know the owner of a local bridal salon and he said honestly only 5% of the dresses he sells are pure white! It can be a little harsh on most skin tones. And as someone said no one else will be wearing white but you so don't worry! Every dress i tried on was ivory and I had no idea until they told me they were ivory and not white!

As other girls said, don't stress about it!  It'll look great whatever shade of white it may be called.

I honestly think ivory dresses look more elegant than stark white ones in pictures - it's more flattering towards paler complexions.  So there's that!
