  What about a piece of jewelry or brooch she could wear at your wedding, and then after.  You could also get her a pair of shoes for that day (my mom is a shoe person), or an engraved picture frame - regardless of what you get her make sure to include a hand written note letting her know how much you appreciate all she has done for you during this time etc.  sometimes the note itself makes the best gift.

  Try to think of it as any other gift. What does she really love? Hobbies, interests, etc. Make it personal rather than just some standard MOB gift.
  
  For my mom, I bought her a bunch of those polished colored stones you find in big bins at museums and gift stores. She LOVES those rocks, and even has special boxes with partitions filled with different stones and rocks (can't think of what they're called at the moment).
  
  So I put the stones in glass jars that look like the favors, just bigger, then painted 'mother of the bride', my name, FI's name, and the wedding date on the sides. She cried wehn I gave them to her.
