Hi Girls,
I've seen a lot of new screen names lately on our board. I was only gone for a few days and now we have a whole crop of new people. My job is getting in the way of my knotting again.

When is (was) your wedding?

How many Kids do you have and what are their ages? One boy age 14

Are your kids in the wedding? His son was best man. My son escorted me down the isle and was a groomsman.
What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
We had a beautiful outdoor wedding in front of a Chapel and had our reception in
the Estate Mansion just steps away on the grounds. It was a park district facility.
We had 95 guests with cocktails, dinner and dancing. I wore a lace ivory gown and ditched the veil at the last minute because it didn't look good on me. My 2 sisters were my bridesmaids.

How long did you date before the proposal? 4 years of dating, 2 years of engagement and planning before we tied the knot.

Outdoor wedding at our house. Have the rings, the photographer, the music and the dress picked out (my mom is making it)

How long did you date before the proposal? Hum - We dated about 2.5 years before the engagement, and it will be a year and a day from the engagement to wedding.

We are having our ceremony and reception aboard the Spirit of NY, which is a dining yacht that circles Manhattan. Its basically a floating party! We are at the final headcount stage, and worked out our table asssignments this weekend. I am almost done with my DIY.

Ceremony in church, luncheon at restaurant, 4 days out, just have to pickup dress tomorrow , tuxes the day after, drop off centerpieces, placecards Friday morning, rehearsal Friday night!!

How long did you date before the proposal? We dated about 2 years before the engagement, and it will be 9 months from the engagement to wedding.

What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
We are having both the ceremony & reception at a large indoor garden that's in my hometown. We also have booked the officiant, the photographer, and the baker. We need the rings, the florist (if we decide to have one that is), and a bunch of other details that can mostly wait until next year to plan.
How did you meet your fiance? At work, we were working on the same project.
How long did you date before the proposal? 6 years of dating, currently engaged for 4 months.

What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
We had an intimate wedding (12 guests) at a synagogue in Massachusetts, then took all our guests to lunch at Legal Sea Foods. Three days after the wedding, we had an evening at-home reception with live music, dancing, an open bar, and a DIY fauxtobooth.
How did you meet your fiance? A mutual online friend introduced us.
How long did you date before the proposal? 8 years before the engagement, then 14 months of engagement and planning before we tied the knot.

we are in there early stages. right now looking at how many people to expect to look at venues. We are going to look at some places near Asheville, NC next weekend. FI wants something more traditional since he did not have much of that the first time.

What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
We are having our wedding at a "lodge" type place in the high peaks of the adirondacks. We are (thank goodness) totally done with planning, save my getting there (i live in utah, and the wedding is in NY) and some little set up things, but my mom has sort of taken the reins at this point.
How did you meet your fiance? He and his ex-wife used to own an independent outdoor specialty retail store in a town i spent some time in after college when i was trying out for the olympics. We met when I walked in to ask about information on trails in the area.
How long did you date before the proposal? We dated for about 2 years before the proposal, and have been engaged for 18 months.

04/03/10 The second anniversary of our reunion in 2009.

We are in the process of planning our dream wedding and have quite a lot done; our venue for the ceremony and reception, the floral package is pretty much completed (DIY silk the bride-to-be is crafty), Save the Dates have been sent, we have the groom-to-be's tux hanging in our closet, my dress is ordered (yes that is visible sweat), DJ selected and under contract, Officiant (huh is pregnant and due on our wedding day) so she is referring us to someone new..eeppp...Bridal party is selected...working on all the other stuff.
How did you meet your fiance? In high school when we were 15, we were best friends until we were 21, lost touch for 17 years, had an email friendship for 8 years, then reunited in '09... So we were high school sweethearts, and still the best of friends.
How long did you date before the proposal? Hmmm which proposal? The one at 21 we hadn't dated since we were 15, the proposal that is leading to our dream wedding one year to the day and we will have been engaged one year on our wedding day, which is the second anniversary of our reunion.

I have three sons 33, 29 ando 14. The middle one is gone because heaven could not wait for its special angel.

Two girls 18 and 13.
Are your kids in the wedding?
All of them. My older will be one of the groomsmen along with my younger and we will have a "in memorian"time for my middle son.His younger daughter will be in the wedding but we don't think that the older one will.
What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
Because a big tragedy happened in my life lately, I stopped all planning that I was doing. Now, FI is doing most of the contacts and negotiations. We are in the very begginig but I had contacted almost everything that I wanted like the venue, the photographer, the DJ, the flowers, and the baker. These just need to close the contract to lock the date, pretty much.FI along with his sisters and nieces are taking care of the rest until I feel comfortable enough to take over the planning.
How did you meet your fiance?
Through a date site that organized a speed date with its members.
How long did you date before the proposal?
We dated for 5 years when we date the last time. We've been engaged before, about 4 years ago, but we broke up and when we got back six months after, we decided to have a fresh new start and it would not include engagement. Last August, despite running already the wedding planning, we got engaged again (new bridal set) e this time for good.

How many Kids do you have and what are their ages? I have 4, 3 boy's and 1 girl. My oldest is 23 married and in the Air Force. My almost 21 year old just enlisted in the Air Force last week. My youngest son is 17 and takeing his road test tomorrow. Last, but, not least I have a 10 year old daughter who is sooo excited about the wedding.
Does your finace have kids, how many? One girl 10, who lives with us full time
Are your kids in the wedding? My oldest son will walk me down the aisle and my daughter and FI's are both jr. BM
What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
We're getting married in a small country church near where FI grew up. My cousins husband will play the bagpipes escorting the girls and I in the church and leading us out. Then we will have a small reception of about 50 people with a sit down dinner, dancing and just a great party. Fi's sister is one of the BM's and her husband will be the Best Man.
How did you meet your fiance? Match.com and my oldest son knew FI from the Air Force, so I had a good recommendation....
How long did you date before the proposal? We dated a year and a half before he proposed on Valentines Day this year.

Are your kids in the wedding? No. His daughters get mad when things are done their way and throw fits so we decided to leave all kids out so they couldn't threaten us with it or drop out.

We've pretty much planned and picked everything out but still saving. Ours is going to be more of a big party.

How many Kids do you have and what are their ages? I have a 23 y/o son in grad school at GWU in DC, a 16 y/o daughter soccer playing junior in HS.

Does your finace have kids, how many? He has a 30 y/o daughter married to a Marine stationed in Hawaii, they have 2 kids; a 29 y/o son, and a 17 y/o daughter

Are your kids in the wedding? My daughter is my MOH, my son will be groomsman. His youngest daughter is in the WP, and his older daughter will have a reading. His grandson will be our RB, he'll be 2, and his granddaughter will be our FG, she'll be 5.

What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process? Have an historic village lined up with a chapel and indoor banquet facility. It will be pretty elegant, black, white & silver colors, expecting to have 100 people. Have a DJ, photographer, "day of" coordinator, and tons of DIY "stuff" in various boxes in several rooms in my house!

We're getting married at a winery. If the weather is nice, the ceremony will be outside iin their gazebo, if not everything will be in their banquet room
How did you meet your fiance? My niece introduced us, she worked with him at the time & was dying to set us up!
How long did you date before the proposal? We just knew right away, the ring actually came about 7 1/2 months after we met, we've been together a little over 2 years, living together 1 year & wedding in 8 months!

A very small wedding, FI's Dad is a judge, so he is our officiant. Guest list of 20, backyard at our good friends house.
How did you meet your fiance? My SIL worked with him and told him to knock on my door when he moved into the apartment complex.
How long did you date before the proposal? We just knew right away, and he asked after just 2 weeks!- We knew better than to jump into it and have just set our date for next year. So 3 years together.

How many Kids do you have and what are their ages? 2 daughters ages 26 and 27. My 26yr old lives locally and my 27yr old is married with a darling 9/12 month old son. Her husband is a marine stationed in NC where they live.

Does your finace have kids, how many? 1 son, 1 daughter ages 26 and 23. His son lives out of state in Wisconsin and his daughter 23 still lives at home.

Are your kids in the wedding? No, we opted for them to just be very special guests. Our daughter's may have the responsibility of rolling the aisle runner although I thought the boys should do it (son and sil), because girls with heels ya never know, but FI wants the girls to do it so we will see.

What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process? We are having a cocktail reception with a lounge feel after our ceremony. Right now we are just waiting for our officiant to get back with us on our vows we selected. He had wanted to do some editing. And I need to start figuring out hair and makeup.

How did you meet your fiance? We were neighbors and friends. After his divorce we started dating and have continued to be neighbors until this past Thursday when I officially moved into his townhome.

How long did you date before the proposal? 15 years! We were waiting for the kids to grow up lol. We have been engaged since April 09.

We had a beautiful wedding and reception at a local B&B. We had 85 family and friends in attendance, and all our OOT family stayed with us at the B&B after the wedding. It was perfect, and we got to enjoy the next morning with breakfast and relaxing on the patio until our family started to leave for home.

Are your kids in the wedding? His son stood up with us at the judge's chambers. My son came to the reception.
What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process? We had a two part wedding. We married at the courthouse on Fri. July 16 and had the reception at a small golf club on July 18.
How did you meet your fiance? match.com Yeah match! Anyway, back in the day (about 7 yrs ago) match used to let women troll for free. So I used to sit and just have a look around. I did have dates with a few guys from there but nothing exciting. Anyway, you know the parameters of your search: how many miles etc? Well, I did expand the mileage a little from my home in Chicago. And there he was in the western suburbs just waiting for me! He told me on our second date that he took his profile off.
How long did you date before the proposal? 4 years of dating, 3 living together, and a 5 month official engagement.

10.20.2010 -- exactly 2 weeks from today! OMG!

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
None!

Does your fiance have kids, how many?
None!
We have two dogs and a cat together

Are your kids in the wedding?
Nope, transporting animals to Hawaii is a lengthy process.. haha

What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
We're getting married at sunset on a beach in Maui... barefoot in the sand! Our afterparty will be a laid back BBQ at our condo, or my mom's condo. We'll have 22 family members and friends in attendance. We're done planning.. just anxiously waiting for the next 11 days to go quickly, and get on that plane!!!

Next spring or summer, we'll have an at-home reception for everyone who couldn't come to Hawaii!

How did you meet your fiance?
We met in high school, about 17 years ago! We were just friends then, but both had secret crushes on each other! After our first marriages broke up, we reconnected and it was magic from the very start.

How long did you date before the proposal?
We dated nearly a year before the proposal (he proposed 2 days before our 1-year anniversary, but we'd been casually talking about marriage since 4 months into the relationship), and the engagement will be 4 days short of 10 months.

Are your kids in the wedding? Our children comprise the entire wedding party.
What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
We are having the ceremony and reception at the DTC Hyatt. They have a gorgeous atrium where the ceremony will be and the reception is in the ballroom on the top floor with beautiful views of the mountains and downtown. We are planning an elegant, semi-formal, fun party to celebrate and trying to incorporate some very unique things to make it ours. FI is an exec sous chef, so having a plated dinner was important to him. We are having a cocktail hour and utilizing the grand piano in the bar area of the ballroom for that. I'm contemplating singing a song during the cocktail hour as a surprise for fi. I'm working on finishing up our STD's because it's at the end of the holiday week, still need to print our invitations but have them designed. I'm making the overlays for the tables and have some other diy items to make. We need to find a dj, but all other vendors are hired at this time. Contemplating a videographer, but not sure if the budget will allow it. My daughter will be here at xmas so we are going shopping for dresses for her and Sydney. Already have my dress chosen, need to get in and get measurements done to get it ordered.
How did you meet your fiance? He was my nieces boss at a restaurant, and she gave him my number. When it happened, I thought the night my sisters and nieces took me out to dinner was planned by my niece on a night he was working at the restaurant. Later after we had been dating, he told me that he was the one who set it up.
How long did you date before the proposal? Met on 7/19/02, bought a house and moved in together May 2004, engaged 12/23/08, set a date just this past summer. I'm also going to school, so that was the reason for waiting.

How many Kids do you have and what are their ages? I have 4 boys: 18, 15, 15, 12 (one of the 15 yr olds was adopted - he was my son's best friend and his mother passed away)

Does your finace have kids, how many? None. He must be nuts to marry into this madhouse.

Are your kids in the wedding? Nope but they got to skip school and spend the week before it with us at the beach.

What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process? I am DONE! We had a small family-only wedding on the beach at Hilton Head island. it was beeeeeeautiful.

How did you meet your fiance? we worked together in diff depts when i was married... never met. after my divorce, i switched into his dept to make more money. and VIOLA!

How long did you date before the proposal? 8 years. I'm a slow mover.

Preliminary date of 10/08/11
How many Kids do you have and what are their ages? One boy, Tyler, age 4
Does your finace have kids, how many? None
Are your kids in the wedding? I'm thinking my son will be ring bearer.
What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
Absolute beginning of process - so far I have tried dresses on and we are beginning a guest list and trying to figure out the venue. Probably somewhere in Lake Tahoe (we live in Reno). If the weather holds out, it will be an outdoor ceremony, but in October here you never know.
How did you meet your fiance? He is a service writer at the dealership where I bought my Jeep. He was filling in for the shuttle driver one day when I was getting my oil changed and gave me a ride back to work, and we talked and talked. I normally have my friend at work give me a ride back when my truck is ready, but this time I called them and said I needed a ride back hoping it would be him - it was!
How long did you date before the proposal? We met last November and he proposed this August 26. We had been talking about getting married for a while, but he just gave me a "beautiful" ring in August.

Does your finace have kids, how many? He has a daughter, 30 and a son, 26. His daughter started having kids EARLY and just gave birth to her 4th child! Better her than me ... LOL!

Are your kids in the wedding? My son will be my best man. He will be 18 by then.

What type of event are you planning, where are you in the planning process?
We are planning an outdoor wedding at an historic venue. The ceremony (string quartet) will be officiated by my cousin, who is a Protestant minister (FI and I are both Catholic). We plan to greet our guests prior to walking with each other to the wedding canopy. Cocktails for guests follow while we're having photos taken on cobblestone streets and at the waterfront. Very close friends and family will be invited. We think about 55 - 60 people will attend. Plated dinner and dancing (DJ) after that. All of the major planning has been done, with exception of contracting the DJ.

How long did you date before the proposal? We dated 3 1/2 years before the proposal. The wedding is on the 5th anniversary of the day we met/our first date.
