Re: ceremony programs - who is doing them? who isn't?

  • I'm actually working on them right now. FI is trying to decide if he wants to put his stepdad's name on them as they aren't that close. I made my own because they're much cheaper that way.

  • We're doing them. The chuch actually requires them because there are some call and response prayers that need to be written out in the program.

  • We are, and my church actually prints them.  I just have to provide the information.

  • we got ours already. We had them printed from a company and shipped for $40 which is super cheap! Especially if you think about all of the printer ink one would have to go through. I love our programs!
  • Im not doing them - our ceremony is SUPER short - our officiant even advised us not to them - one less thing for me stress about!!  :)

  • We're doing them! We are putting a picture and order of events...some fun facts. It's also got a thank you to our guests on it. My mom has made it, we're just waiting to nail down the order of events before printing.

  • We are not doing them for several reasons.  1. our ceremony is going to be about 15 minutes and done by a judge 2. we are having a small wedding party 3. We would be making them ourselves and don't need the added stress!

What are your thoughts for and against them for having them at your ceremony?

  • We're doing them. They'll be simple 11x4 cards with the ceremony info on one side and the BP info, thank you and "in memory" section on the other.

<div>A majority of the weddings I have ever been to did not do programs.  I honestly would not be doing them, but the pastor asked and then volunteered to do them.  They just look like a regular Sunday church bulletin with some sort of wedding related pic on the front.</div><div>
    </div><div>I agree...I didn't need anything extra to do!!</div>

  • I'm doing them simply because I have such a short attention span that when I attend anything, I always like to have a program to show me what's next and when it'll be over-so I want that for my guests! Plus, I'm having an "in memory" section and a blurb about a GM that can't make it because he's in the armed forces.

  • I am not doing them since the ceremony is really short and the ceremony is outside (could get blown away). we're not doing readings or anything so it's short and sweet.

  • We are doing them. The order went out about a week ago to weddingpaperdivas.com. They look great, but are quite simple. Cover has our names, wedding date and venue. The inside left has the wedding party, the inside right has the ceremony order and our thanks and rememberance.  They were on sale for something like $0.55 a piece.

  • Doing them and they are done.
We are having a full hour catholic mass, therefore so people have something to look at to follow along if they are lost and clueless.
Plus i had so much extra paper/ribbon, etc left over from my DIY invites, it wasnt any extra cost to me.
  • I started working on our programs using publisher like 2 months ago and lord knows its been at the editing table ever since! I'm still not done with it.
We're going them b'cuz I'm Honduran and he is Bermudian, different traditions need explaining, we're doing a ringwarming which not too many people are familiar with and we also have a memory arrangement and I'd like to make sure everyone knows about it.

  • We are doing simple ones... should be in today according to the tracking number...
50 of them for 10$ (which is cheaper than printing them myself)
we have 100 people at the wedding, 50 is more than enough as they are families of 4 or more most of them.
  • We're doing them; our church pretty much requires them for the responses.  I haven't started them yet, so I have no idea what they will look like.

    what company did you use?

i don't want to make them, but i hate being at weddings with no programs...so i will.
  • We're doing progams.

We're also pretty traditional in that our ceremony is in a church. I wouldn't think it was weird to not have a program. Other than the bridal party information, people know how a wedding ceremony typically goes. ;)
  • We chose not to. Our ceremony is going to be completely traditional so I didn't see a need. Not to mention it isn't in my time budget or money budget!

Do you have an example of yours you could show or send me? We're having a full Catholic mass, too, and I'm having trouble creating ours. THank you!!!

  • We will have them, but they will be rather simple.  I will either print them at home on cardstock, or use a Vistaprint groupon to do them.  I want people to know our WP and I want to have a place to thank the parents and my gma who have helped a lot with the wedding.

  • We are. I have some friends standing up throughout the ceremony and reading quotes from Shakespeare, we figured this would be a good way for them to know when it is their turn and for other guests to know what is going on, when random people start standing up!
  • We don't know, actually :(

I would dearly love to receive the programs that I ordered and paid for on Etsy.  They are gorgeous and lovely fans with scrollwork on them.  However, after over two months of working with the lady who prints them, I have yet to receive them.

Supposedly last week she shipped them.  No tracking number, no notification e-mail, nothing.  We'll see.

If you ever see someone by the name of WoodLarkDesigns on Etsy, run the other way.

    We ordered them from:

    <a href="http://www.weddingboutique.us/wedding-programs-wedding-program-paper.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.weddingboutique.us/wedding-programs-wedding-program-paper.html</a>

It was the best price we could find and they turned out beautifully!! Also the customer service is awesome! They even mail you a proof and then once you get it and like it you let them know and they print the rest. I like knowing what they are going to look like before having the 100 printed (we decided to do one per couple).  The template was very easy as well and they line up everything for you once you order it (dont worry if its not perfect lined when you put it in - they will adjust it)  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />  Let me know if you have any questions!
  • We are doing them. Mainly because I have a section devoted to Brides Against Breast Cancer in support of my grandmother who was currently going through chemo/treatment for Stage 2 breast cancer.

Otherwise they are pretty simple and I made them using Publisher while I was at work. When I'm ready to print them off I will send them to my FMIL and she will use her work's fancy printer and cardstock (so all I spent was just my time creating them)

  • I wasn't going to. Decided to. Decided not to. I wasn't even familiar with the idea before TK. It was suggested we use the program to honor FI's son, he won't be able to join us as he is in Basic Training. I had a bit of panic figuring it out. Now I've decided it is really more trouble than it is worth for our 12 minute ceremony. Embarassed

  • I'm doing one.  I thought that it would be a nice way to acknowedge my wedding party and to say something about those that have passed that we would like to have there with us.  The ceremony will move pretty fast, so I'm sure no one will follow-along with that part of the program or really care about the name of the traditional songs or readings we have.

  • We are doing them. I think it's nice for everyone to know the order of things, and who is standing up, and we will have something in them about the people who have passed away. They are all done, just have to print them out, but am waiting a little bit, just in case something changes.
