NWR: Does anyone know anything about Aberdeen, Hazlet, or Matawan?

How are the towns in general?  How are the schools?

Any information would be great!

Hazlet would be the nicest out of the three & probably the best schools too. It is right next to Middletown which is a nice town. Aberdeen & Matawan are more working class areas.

Thanks, ladies!  I've never been to any of them, so just wanted to know if they were worth checking out.

I disagree about Hazlet. Not  a very high opinion of any of them.

There are towns located right next to them that are better Middletown, Holmdel, and Lincroft. If I had to pick one I would say Hazlet but don't really like any of them.

I grew up next door to those towns in Holmdel, I think school wise it may be better to stick with Holmdel, but i'm not an expert, i went to Catholic School,  but of those 3 i think Aberdeen (the parts on the border of Holmdel) might be your best bet

I'd pick south middletown over any of those.  They are mostly blue collar towns.  Lincroft or Holmdel is gonna cost  $$$$$.  North Middletown isn't bad, but the HS isn't as highly rated as Middletown South (they share it with some of the towns you mentioned).

It depends. Each of those towns has good and bad parts. There are definitely good deals on houses there, but you need to be mindful of the lcoation. A good realtor will stear you clear of the areas that you should stay out of (I know you're not looking actively yet, but when the time comes...).

I think there are better options in the immediate area though that you may pay slightly more for the house, but the school systems are better. Like User said, houses in the Midd South district are normally better off, but it depends on what person you talk to. Midd North people love their area too haha. I'm a Midd South area girl, so I obviously prefer that- but no matter what it's a good area

I was a reporter there for two years. They all have good and bad sections, just like anywhere else.

However, Hazlet has a much better school district than Matawan/Aberdeen, which share a high school. Hazlet overall has nicer areas, as long as you stay away from the "West Keansburg" side of the township, which is on the flooding side of Route 36.

If you consider Matawan or Aberdeen, I would stay away from the train station area. The government is trying to build it up, but last time I was there there were illegal immigrants lining Main Street looking for work.

Holmdel is def nicer, but more pricey. Same with Middletown. If you are looking around that area, I'd avoid Keyport and Keansburg: They have the worst school districts in the area.

Feel free to PM me for any other information.

I will never understand when people say stuff like this. You're not the first and you won't be the last- it just makes no sense to me

I went to Middletown South and lived right by it... it was the better school in the area and better area to live in; however, it will def. cost more than some parts of Matawan/Aberdeen/Hazlet.  They aren't bad by any means.
