Do y'all remember. . .

last year when Shane and I got invited over to a friend's house and got the surprise of being sucked into a timeshare presentation?

IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN. A girl I know from high school messaged me and some other girls from high school to see if we wanted to get together for coffee one day and "catch up." IT WAS THE SAME SHiIT.

What makes me the maddest is they won't tell you what you're getting into so they can get you there. I was really rude, and as soon as I sat down and saw the papers, I stood up again and said, "I've already sat through this once. Thanks, y'all have a good day." And walked the eff out.

  • Holy shiit. Really? I would never do that to my friends. Good for you for walking out.
  • Wow.. who blindsides their friends like that?  That's just weird Whit.  And twice.  I remember the first time too.  Did anyone else leave with you?
  • Wtf is wrong with your friends lol, thats just plain rude.

UGH!  That is AWFUL!!  I'm glad you had the balls to walk out of there.

I know it's not the same, but in the past three days I have received two emails from a high school friend (acquaintance) advertising her realty business.  First of all, I don't live in Cincinnati (or Northern Kentucky).  Secondly, way to alienate people.  I need to figure out how to stop them.  So freaking annoyed.
  • I would find that super insulting actually.  The surprising you with a pop-up timeshare pitch, not the leaving part.
    Photobucket
  • I think you need new friends.. That is just not normal.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • YES. I could not believe it. No one else walked out, and one girl ended up signing up. She told me later that the girl who was doing the presentation was encouraging her not to tell her husband (it costs lilke $300 to sign up), and just "ask for forgiveness later."

I am going to disown all my friends.

    MP, that is weird!

  • I'd probably punch my friend in the face.

NOT REALLY. But that's just...really crappy.

  • Do they get some sort of incentive for bringing people there? how lame
  • I was actually kinda hurt too, because I haven't seen this girl in a while, and we were really good friends in high school, so I was excited about meeting up with old friends and catching up. GAH.

What are y'all up to? Hopefully not being blindsided by timeshares.

That sounds like a good way to be in a marriage!  Just lie to your husband about finances!!  What dolts!
  • Yeah, what do they get if you sign up?

Yep. You have to pay a $300 sign-up fee and a $150 yearly membership fee. If you recruit four people to join, you don't have to pay your membership fee.

  • lol...oh boy.

I have a *hopefully* not long story to share.

I have a friend, his name is Kevin.  Kevin is awesome!  But I don't get to spend much time with Kevin.

When I got engaged I messaged him "I got engaged!".

A couple months later I get a text from him saying "Hey can I meet with you?"  It was so random so I was concerned.  I responded "Ya sure, everything ok?"  He said "yes, I just want to talk with you abut something."

So we set up a date for coffee.

I was SO excited.  I haven't seen Kevin in MONTHS!!!!!!!!!  Seriously, I was texting DH about how excited I was.

Well he was running a few minutes behind so I was looking at the window and noticed a guy getting out of his car.  He is a friend's bf, who kept trying to set up a time to go over some time share thing but I kept saying I was busy...

and guess what his name was...Kevin...

I put him in my phone but messaged the wrong Kevin.  So not only did I get tricked into that stupid meeting, I didn't get to hang out with my friend, and had to sit through this stupid thing!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR

  • Hahaha Tiffanie, that's kinda funny, looking back at it. But I'm sure it wasn't funny when it was happening!

Fishy, I'm sure it was busy from you being gone. Lots to catch up on I bet. We're having chicken kabobs.

  • Tiffanie, that sucks but it's kind of funny.

Not much going on here.  Our cable isn't working (for the second day in a row), and I'm not sure how to fix it.  So I haven't watched TV all day.  Did a bunch of laundry and filed papers.  YAY FOR DAYS OFF!!
  • I'm totally jealous of all y'all having a day off! I didn't even know it was a holiday until ... probably 10 am this morning.

    I'm a bad American.

  • I saw your FB post MP. We have cable now, but we didn't for a good year. I didn't miss it, but now that we have it, I watch it way too much.

  • I took a three-hour break from homework to watch Midnight In Paris with my sister.  It was pretty good.  Now I'm making pierogis for dinner and planning on starting homework soon.

Whit, it's just so frustrating.  This happened some time last Summer, and I thought it was the Tivo.  Spent $50 getting a new Tivo (which I then returned but had to pay S&H), and we figured out it was the cable.  Tried our fix last night and it worked but it didn't today.  Stupid Comcast.

Not going to lie.  I'd miss cable.  Luckily it still works in the bedroom, but we don't watch TV in there too often.  I guess we'll just snuggle up tonight to watch How I Met Your Mother.

<div>I didn't either.  I just thought NOLA shut down for Lundi Gras as well as Mardi Gras.  It was about noon when I realized it was President's day.</div>

I'm sitting here trying to decide what to have for dinner from our limited kitchen.  We're going to FL for almost a week tomorrow so we don't have much in the house.  I have the choice of tuna (from a can), chicken nuggets, or a Weight Watchers meal that's meant for H's lunch tomorrow.

I don't feel like going out to get something and even if I did it would be something wholly unhealthy like Papa John's.
