Hotels??

We're getting to the point where I need to make arrangements for hotel rooms for our out of town guests but I'm not sure where to start. Our wedding will be at Hickory Street Annex in downtown Dallas but I'd like to keep the cost failrly low so am thinking of looking a little more North for better prices.

Did anyone get a good deal on a block of rooms at a hotel you would recommend? We're having quite a few out of town guests so I'm thinking around 30+ rooms.

Thanks!

I got a really great deal at the Hyatt Regency (under 100$ per room in May 2012). The person I am working with, Stephanie, is super sweet, I love her! Plus all my guests are mucho excited about staying at "the hotel connected to the giant ball". 90% of our guests are oot so I think it will be very convenient and great for the weekend. (also, connected to the DART via Union Station).

We booked a block at a Hyatt Place (ours was in Plano, which is probably too north for you, but it's a chain), and we loved it. I stayed there the night before the wedding with my maid of honor and we all had small suites with a large couch, so there was lots of visiting rooms and hanging out. It was about $85 or so a night, which is a good price. It also had a free breakfast which was so-so, but it was great fun seeing all the family and other guests that morning. I'd definitely recommend it.

Our block is at the Doubletree Campbell Center.  Rooms are $89/night.

The normal group rate for our hotel, Hotel Indigo, is $89/night. Ours ended up being $129/night because it was OU-UT weekend, but otherwise they're pretty affordable. They're in downtown Dallas.

Our company Christmas party last year was at The Fairmont Hotel downtown, and they were able to secure a room block for $99/night. My wedding room blocks were in Addison, but that may be a little further north that you'd want. I worked with Marriott, and we were able to get $59/night at the Spring Hill Suites which included hot breakfast in the morning--there is one in the West End off Lamar which is less than 3 miles from Hickory Street Annex.

I know that the Sheraton has a ton of rooms and always has good deals.

Keep in mind other negotiating points as well such as: free shuttle to wedding venue for your guests, breakfast, # of free nights per room nights booked, loyalty program points, attrition (i.e. you must guarantee a certain % of rooms booked).

At first we didn't like the idea of having to guarantee a % of rooms, but we found that if we did, we got a lot of other things included in the contract (as mentioned above).
