New York-Hudson Valley

Here's a tricky venue question...

Does anyone know of a location in the Hudson Valley area where we can have a huge tent that has nice grounds... like gardens or something? Yea... as you could tell we are still in a venue crunch!

I don't know of any off of the top of my head, but maybe try some of the more historical houses or mansions in the area. They are more likely to have the space to set up a tent without it feeling crowded.

Do you want to set up your own tent or use one that's already there? The Grandview (Poughkeepsie) has a beautiful tent overlooking the Hudson River, but I'm not sure if that's what you had in mind.

To throw some suggestions at you: Osborn Castle at Cat Rock (Garrison), Boscobel (Garrison), Wainwright House (Rye), Philipsburg Manor (Sleepy Hollow), Van Cortlandt Manor (Croton-on-Hudson), Sunnyside (Tarrytown)

We're getting married at the Bird and Bottle Inn in Garrison and they have a permanent tent setup in the garden.

I always wanted a outdoor tent wedding but after finding out how much everything costs we deceided to just go with The Grandview tent. You only have to deal with one venue other than a bunch of differnet ppl. It's beautiful there. Check it out :)

What about Mills Mansion (Staatsburg) or Clermont State Historic Site? If you wanted something smaller, you could try the Inn at Stone Ridge. Cole Hill Farm in Stone Ridge? Audrey's Farmhouse in Walkill? There is also the Mohonk Pavilion.

The thing with most of these places is that you have to bring in port-a-potties, which might be a turn off for you, it was for us. I don't know if Montgomery Place still does weddings, but my brother got married there and it was amazing (and you didn't need port-a-potties).

I'm getting married at Lyndhurst. My ceremony will most likely be in the rose garden and the reception is under a tent in a courtyard. The courtyard is adjacent to a "carriage house," which is part of the Lyndhurst property and during the day it's a little cafe. (Smaller weddings can be held in here, too). This is where the bathrooms are located, so don't worry about port-a-potties!

Also, you don't have to worry about finding a tent. Lyndhurst has a tent they keep up for the duration of wedding season. I believe it's included in the site fee, but I could be wrong. Either way, you just pay for the tent as you would have paid any tent vendor, but you don't have to worry about it getting it set up, because it's already set up for you.

I love Lyndhurst and I would def. recommend it!
