Inexpensive TC Wedding Venues

I've been searching all over the web and asking around about different venues that have ceremony and reception spaces in the twin cities and I have yet to find any great prices and info on nice places. We're trying to budget on the lower side are hoping to only spend 3000 on the venue including all the costs (food, decor, etc) with an hors d'oeuvres type dinner, instead of a full one. Unfortunately our guest list has grown to around 200 people. I realize this seems impossible, but I figured I'd ask anyway!

A problem I'm running into...I have expensive and fancy taste. haha :)

Any ideas?

Some other input I'd appreciate...if 3000 is too cheap for what I want, what is a more reasonable budget? I'm just starting!! :)

Well, we're using Rosevine Hall.....inexpensive and works for us.  But, definitely not fancy.  We are however having our ceremony at the Millennium hotel, which I find extremely unique and fancy, we just couldn't afford to do it all there....I think their Food and Bev minnumum is something like $6500 =(

THe Eagan Community Center might be in your budget as long as you don't have many guests.

How many guests are you thinking?  Are you thinking dinner reception, or brunch, or appetizers only?

You might consider having your ceremony in the summer months at an outdoor park.  Rental fees obtained through the city are quite reasonable.  For receptions...that's the clincher.  If you plan on hiring a caterer or having a reception at a venue w/their own catering (vs. having a pot-luck or family style at a VFW or public spot), and especially if you're providing alcohol as well, sadly $3K likely won't cut it (depending on how may guests, I suppose).  You have to consider all the taxes, and service charges (tips) involved as well.   In the wedding reception biz, you pretty much get what you pay for.   And beware, whenever you see food and beverage "minimums" listed for various venues, you will 99% of the time always go over that amount anyway.

What do others think?  Have you, or anyone you know pulled off a dinner reception for $3K or less in the Twin Cities recent years?

Rosevine hall looks cute! I'm definitely adding to my list...it looks like somewhere you could fancy up a bit. :)
Millenium hotel...oh my goodness that would be amazing to do everything there. Too bad we're not all rich huh? So cool that you can do your ceremony there though!!

We have about 200 so far...I'm going to try to cut down a bit but I don't think we can much.  The Eagan Community Center seems really nice though, I'll have to look more into it. Thanks!

We have the same problem... we decided to do a lunch wedding, so that helps.  We're doing it at the Profile Event Center (I've seen a couple other people on here saying the same place!)  Their minimum for a Sunday, off-season is only 2950, I think.  They have a lot of hors d'oeuvres options too, which is nice.  There's no rental fee either, so you just pay the food minimum (and then the tax and service charge...)

We're doing our ceremony at the same place! (No extra set up fee either, yay!)
