Are you doing wedding favors?

I am not sure if this is something I want to get myself into...my FI's family NEVER does them and the guest list is climbing...am I the only one out there passing on the mesh bags of Jordan almonds???

We opted to offer really good food/top shelf alcohol rather than skimp and then hand out a favor that few will actually appreciate. For $115/pp we're skipping favors.

Favors are not required, but a nice touch if you can afford them. I think the little tulle bags of Jordan almonds sounds just fine.

We kept ours simple as well.

We skipped them. To do anything that I didn't find cheesy was going to be at least $2/pp. For that, we could add an extra app to our cocktail hour. Not exactly a huge upgrade, but I figured most people would rather than a scallop wrapped in bacon when they are hungry than a couple of jordan almonds when they were full.

We did koozies, and people LOVED them. But favors aren't necessary.

They really aren't done in my region/social circle. IDK why. I've only been to one wedding that had them and they were pretty lame (15 m&ms in a tulle baggie). Most folks left them at the tables or on the table near the exit. I did see a few kids with their pockets stuffed full.

Our group tends to focus on food/alcohol/music.

As a guest I would say don't spend on favors and instead spend the money on better/more food & alcohol. I have always thrown the favor out, it is wasted money.

As a guest, I usually end up leaving the favor on the table. Edible favors are okay, but after a full meal and dessert, I don't usually want to take home another piece of food or candy.

lol too funny! I have seen a majority of the favors get left behind at pretty much every wedding I've been to as well.

At many weddings I like when there is an edible favor. After tons of dancing, when I leave I am starving and will devour the contents of any monogrammed box or tulle circle.

We did not do favors and opted for a late night snack instead.

My little sister is making chocolate covered pretzels. I put my brideslaves...er I mean bridesmaids...to work! Just kidding. She just told me as my gift she wanted to be in charge of favors and I let her.

We did dark chocolate truffles and they were a huge hit (not a single one left, which I was totally bummed about). A friend of mine (pastry chef) did them though so the cost was not what it would have been had I bought them from Godiva or someplace.

It's tradition for us to give favors, not only to guests in attendance but to guests who couldn't attend and still gave a gift. I have no idea what we are going to give though.

We're going to be giving every guest a scratch off lotto ticket (or 2, haven't decided yet) but its relatively inexpensive and it'll be something everyone can use and enjoy (and hopefully win big!!!). I just thought that during the cocktail hour, it'll give people something to look forward too besides the apps/drinks. Hopefully no one fights over tickets

my cousin had a candy bar. That was pretty cute. but I left my favor at the reception, and many others did, too. I agree with PP, putting more money into the food and alcohol. We are skipping favors and doing that as well.

We're doing a small box of chocolates from a local chocolatier. Each box has four pieces--a caramel, raspberry creme, meltaway and buckeye.

They're delicious, and I don't anticipate having any leftover.

My mom is making the wedding cake but also a giant cupcake for each guest at the end of the evening that looks like the wedding cake. She wanted to bake and I wasn't about to tell her no!

We weren't going to do favors for the same reasons as PP's already stated, but FI's mom insisted that we have something so she is going to pick something and pay for it. My FI said it's a Filipino "thing" or maybe it's really just his family "thing". But anyways, I guess we will have something for people to leave behind most likely, lol. For the record, if I was rich of course, and could afford a favor that cost more than $1/person, then maybe I would do something practical or "cute", but as it is, I am not...haha.

Favors are definitely not necessary, and unless they're edible i.e. candy or mini bottles of champagne, wine, or cider they will most likely get left behind by most guests.

We did a candy buffet and our guests loved it! None of them had ever seen one done before.

we're on the fence....we were thinking about doing playing cards (vegas wedding) or a card holder thingy (something to do with poker, i think...). but other than that, probably not much.

I did bottles of wine. If you were a couple, you went home with a bottle of red and a bottle of white, or single you went home with a bottle of either. I got lucky in the favor department though because my mom was a huge PITA about anything I wanted to do, so she offered to pay for it if I got wine. They were regular size bottles so people were pretty happy with it.

I went to a wedding this weekend that had adorable favors that everyone raved about. The bride's mom thought of them - they were small tins (I thought they were going to be mints) of Jelly Bellies! People went nuts over them. I'm hoarding mine - I love Jelly Bellies.
