Need quotes for the magazine about your wedding!

Hey Knotties,

I need ideas for the magazine. We’ll use your Knot Name for this, so you’ll be “wedding famous” here! I need to know what you’re are doing or what you did to make your wedding special. Maybe you have an awesome theme or are serving an amazing midnight snack? Maybe you’re using your parents’ cake toppers or are wearing your mom’s dress. Whatever it is, I want to know! The more specific, the better!

Thanks,

KA

My bouquet is from the florist my fiancé first sent me flowers from to ask me out--my mother-in-law prodded him along at the time and paid for the wedding bouquet as a gift.

Instead of a groom's cake, we're having a gelato cart so we can have "cake and ice cream."

I used actual potted plants for my centerpieces instead of cut flowers.  I wanted a more earth or I guess a green wedding.  I bought the plants at a local nursery.

We're having a bunch of special touches to make sure the day is reflective of us.  Our overall theme is simple chic with a touch of antique.  Yeah, it rhymes.

Since my FI doesn't care for cake, his groom's cake is going to be stacked wheels of cheese that guests can slice and take as favors.
Guests will sign a vinyl record which has our first dance on it, then type wishes on a vintage typewriter.  The paper will be a continous sheet so we can scroll it up and read it whenever.
Our ceremony backdrop is going to have 4 frames spelling LOVE, then when it comes time to kiss the bride, some of the bridal party will flip the frames to reveal XOXO.

I'm still too far out for a lot of the details, but we hired the best DJ we could find. He has such great ideas and surprises that I'm sure all of our guests will remember our wedding! My parents are also hosting a wine tasting at our engagement party to pick the wines for the wedding. I thought that was a great idea to get our families interacting and feeling involved in the wedding!

Instead of my Daddy walking me down the isle, My brother will do so because My Daddy is going to Marry me! :)

We're incorporating a travel theme into our ceremony and reception with details such as passport programs, boarding pass escort cards and tables named after all the places we have traveled to together.

For our guestbook, we are having an artist friend draw a big tree with lots of branches on a piece of paper.  There will be ink available for the guests to use their fingerprint to make a leaf on the tree and then sign by their fingerprint.  We are going to use three different colors of ink....one for the bride's family/friends, one for the groom's, and one for mutual friends.  Then we will be able to frame it afterwards and have a wonderful keepsake from our wedding.

We got married at the hotel we went to on our first date.  I always have to qualify that by saying we went to the lobby bar on our first date, not the hotel.

People usually  have a picutre of the couple where the guest book is, well I picked out my favorite picture from our engagement pictures and I'm getting someone to do a painting of it :).  For the grooms cake since my FI boxes and that's his passion, we will have his groom cake shaped as a boxing ring and I have ordered a custom cake topper of us with boxing gloves like if we are about to box, of course I'm gonna be the one throwing the punch not him lol :)

All I can says is - Rice Crispy Treat Groom's Cake!! It's such a fun, different thing, plus - it's yummy!  We don't care for traditional cake, so it's a great alternative.

In lue of a grooms cake I am making each of our favorite desserts for our guests...mine: Better Than Sex Cake - or Black Tie Pudding Cake (for the wedding wording) and his: Mini-Chocolate Pecan Pies. Each will be displayed on either side of the wedding cake. Bridesmaids get ready for the assembly line!!!! lol

The OOT bags for our guests consist of treats (truffles, cookies, cake balls) from local bakeries/chocolatiers.  Since our guest hotel is pet friendly and many guests are bringing their beloved pooches, we also made doggie OOT bags with treats baked by a local doggie bakery.

My FI is from Sri Lanka, so we are honoring both cultures. I am wearing traditional wedding dress for the ceremony and part of the reception, then I will change into a traditional sari for the rest of the evening. We will then go to Sri Lanka two weeks later for a traditional ceremony with his family.
