Unity Volcano (only sort of E related)

I really want a unity volcano -

Like a science fair volcano where FI and I pour vinegar together and there's a big pretty erruption and it envelops the tiny village we've constructed at the bottom (maybe even a tiny Jurassic Park - the world is our oyster at this point).

FI and I really love building things and doing projects together, and when I brought this idea up to him, he got really excited and started drawing up blueprints. I think it's going to be fun. He's an ecologist, so science gets him excited. I'm an English teacher, so Jurassic Park gets me excited. This feels like a perfect marriage in unity ceremony form.

My question is this - how can I discreetly present the volcano, do the ceremony, and have it carted off again? We don't have a venue yet, but we're looking at a backyard or a park. Something open and grassy.

Any ideas?
Also, how do I keep my FI from wanting to make it 6 feet tall? He's already trying to figure out how to make tiny electric fences.

I don't get it. You want to celebrate your marriage by erupting a volcano that destroys a small village? That seems kind of opposite, no? And a bit juvenile.

I'm really not sure how you can discreetly present a volcano in your ceremony....but it sounds like it has the potential to be really messy. (Getting on your dress/his clothes).

Jurassic Park is a good book, and I've used it in classes before

As for the mess, we're not talking about a towering inferno
and we have lab coats

Our wedding is super casual, and we wanted something fun for our unity ceremony

I think it seems like a bit much for a wedding. BUT it's not my wedding, it's yours and your FI's and no one knows you better then you. So if you both like it, go for it!

I still don't understand how this is a "unity" anything. Just because it combines your interests? So the whole "destruction and despair" aspect that comes along with erupting volcanoes doesn't seem weird to you in relation to a wedding?

And what if something goes wrong, and it ends up splattering over everything?

As a guest, I would find this very confusing and strange. Also, creating an erupting volcano and small village in the weeks before your wedding sounds like a lot of work. I'm a month out right now and I can't imagine taking on a project like that.

As for being discreet? I don't think that is really possible. Did you say you are going to be wearing LAB COATS? Interesting.

I mean, your FI is a scientist, so I would defer to him if you were going to make something like this.

I get what you're talking about with a small eruption, but to get any kind of significant "lava" flow (to destroy your tiny village), you're going to have to put a LOT of materials in there, and any time you have a lot of materials, you increase your chances for a bigger mess.

One of the fun parts about building it together would be that we can spend some time making a few test models and try out different measurements

baking soda and vinegar doesn't tend to combine in an unexpected volitile way - it's very controlled.

and it's something fun that we want to build together - isn't that more unifying than ordering sand online?

Not ignoring it - just having a hard time trying to decide how to explain that I just don't see it.

Maybe it's the idea of the "destroyed" village that's giving you that impression or the idea of a volcano at all. My wedding is small and super casual, and I don't think my small selection of guests will think twice about the "symbolism" of a science fair volcano.

We've always got some little science project set up in our kitchen, and this is very "us"

I'm totally up to other suggestions, too. We love little science projects, but volcanoes seem to horrify a few people on here.

FI also liked the idea of little plastic dinosaurs - as far as the village is concerned
