Nevada-Las Vegas

So many questions.....

1.  Will it be too hot for an outdoor wedding in June?  The lady at Venetian pretty much said I was crazy to consider it.  I would love the Bellagio terrace but I dont want everyone to miserable.

2. Reception planning is hard!  Has anyone had their reception at Circo?  Thoughts?  Or at a buffet?  I'm thinking either in suite reception (although Bellagio said 20 people max and I might have 40) or a restaurant or buffet.
I want guests to be able to order/eat what they want and pay for drinks by consumption.

3. I want guests to have a classy Vegas experience.  We have grandmothers and first timers and well-to-do-ers from the office and I want to show everyone a classy time.  I feel like, for the location, Bellagio is the way to go. Although Im certain we will go broke. Thoughts?

4. Photography - Ive heard about going on a strip tour with a photographer.  Is this just driving up and down the strip stopping at various spots for pics?  Recommend?

Also Im not sure if I'm seeing all this board has to offer.  Some of you ladies have said to click on the Knottie list but Im not sure where to click.

Thank you all so much!

Re: So many questions.....

  • Circo is delicious! And reasonably priced for the Bellagio.  Do they have a private room? Olives is in the bellagio and great food also consider Fix, love that place too! Olive's is italian I believe and Fix is american.  I know Fix has a private room but not sure how many it seats, not sure about Olive's.  I think if you're wanting to go classier, probably stay away from a buffet.  People seem to love Maggianos and Joe's Stone Crab.  Joe's is pretty close to the bellagio and they have a pretty wide menu.  Maggiano's you'd need to drive or be driven there.

June gets hot..high 90s into the 100s by then.  Sometimes we'll have some cooler spells but usually it is quite warm.

that's all I can answer from your questions

  • If it's a short outside ceremony the Bellagio patio should be fine.  It's covered and has a reasonable breeze that comes through.  We looked at it during the summer months when we were planning.  I wouldn't want to be out there for an extended period though; i.e. for something like a get everyone seated and have a 20 minute ceremony it should be fine.

Something else for you to look at would be the Foundation Room at Mandalay; it has an outside and inside component, on the 64th floor of Mandalay; incredible views which will certainly wow your guests.

We used Mike L Photography and loved them.  I'm sure they'll do strip tours if you want.  They also do anything else like trash the dress, etc.

Married in Vegas - June 2011

  • Second the Foundation Room at Mandalay-- it's got a view that will take the well-to-do-ers' breath away.

We had an indoor wedding last June, not for weather reasons but I definitely wouldn't have dreamt of getting married outdoors at 1pm, LOL. I must say that it was pretty hot, the locals said it was strangely breezy for June, to me it felt like inhaling fire.
Although I think that an after dark ceremony would be beautiful and not miserable at all. I like the warm weather so I wouldn't mind it, in fact when hubby and I left the hotel to go to the Eiffel Tower Restaurant that night, I thought the temperature was perfect.

For your in-suite reception also look at some of Downtown LV hotels. Another knottie hosted a really successful one at the Golden Nugget. From the description and pictures the suite was beautiful! It had a staircase!

As far as going broke, we increased our budget twice during the planning and still managed to go over it... Vegas isn't necessarily cheaper than a hometown wedding; well cheaper than NYC for sure. One thing I can tell you is that you have to decide what your priority is, location or guests. If you're dead set on the Bellagio but it's a little too expensive for the number of guests, then tackle the guest list. Otherwise, continue your research and compromise on the location to include everyone. We knew we had a dream place in mind so we made it work by keeping it intimate.
  • I am having my reception at the foundation room and it really does have AWESOME views...it is a nice way to keep Vegas in your wedding but have a very upscale, classy reception (there are tons of places that will keep it this way too) but I just especially know of this one because I am using it haha. Happy Planning!

  • Coming back to say that it sounds like your priority is to keep it classy, so yes, that could mean to prepare to spend a bit more than you thought. Above all we wanted a glamorous wedding, which led to the budget increase, but in the end it was more than glamorous, it was absolutely perfect and luxurious in everyway. We have no regrets and I guess that's what matters. You should pin down what is most important to you, once it's over there's no going back... having had my share of knotting I'd say wedding day regrets aren't pretty :)

  • We actually considered The Bellagio Terrace, but decided to go with the Wynn instead. Bellagio has a REALLY nice steak restaurant Prime. It is located right by the Terrace and you can actually rent out their private patio which overlooks the fountains for your reception

  • I would never ever recommend an outdoor wedding here in June

  • I second the night time wedding suggestion. In a setting like the Terrace, it would be amazing!

Circo was one of the restaurants I looked into for our reception, but in the end it was too fussy for us, and we wanted a more relaxed vibe.

I know you want to impress everyone, but make sure you don't overstretch yourself financially or you will be worrying the whole time. Also, don't put too much pressure on yourself - it is Vegas, everyone will love it, whether you get married at the Bellagio or in a chapel on the Strip.

I had a Strip tour - if you want to impress, then look into the Big Blue Limo (by NTS Limos) - even our grandparents enjoyed it, and it is the thing that our guests most talk about today. It is the true spirit of Vegas! Get your photographer on board and do some photo stops - definitely worthwhile!
