Live Ceremony Music or DJ?

I am having trouble deciding between having live musicians for the ceremony or using the DJ.  We are having the ceremony at our venue (Seasons) and it will be a quick 30 min. non-denominational ceremony.

Our DJ said if we are looking to cut costs to just use the DJ, or they can offer live musicians.

I love the thought of live musicians but does it make a huge difference?  What is everyone else doing - for those not having the ceremony at a church?  And for those using live musicians can you give me a ballpark of what you are paying?

I am getting married at my venue as well, we went with a solo harpist and also have her coming to the cocktail hour as well, it was actually similar in pricing for us. We have 2 rooms for our cocktail hour so one room with be the harpist and the other room will be background music from the venue. For a 30 min ceremony its about your preference and costs. If your interested in a harpist her name is Violetta Norrie.

We were thinking about a guitarist but wound up using our DJ as he is also providing a microphone.  I believe it was around $250 (but that might be high because we negotiated some of the other stuff he is doing).

What is the "feel" you are looking for?  We are using upbeat, modern music instead of classical for our processional and recessional, which is why we didn't need a live musician.  But if we were, we'd probably go with a harpist or guitarist as that type of music is so pretty.  GL!

We're doing the combo.  We have a dj, percussionist, trumpet & sax players.

I like the vibe live musicians give, but at the same time, I don't want to hear a 40 year old woman singing Usher, so I didn't want to go the full band route.

I used a DJ, honestly, it was still beautiful, I didn't miss anything.
