Stick a fork in me...

I can't believe how much food I just ate. A HUGE bowl at Genghis Grill, and then we went to Coldstone. Holy fuuck am I stuffed.

Plus, I can't really breathe through my nose. I'm laying on the couch occasionally groaning/sighing. It's not pretty.

How are you all doing this fine evening?

  • I'm pretty good. Lounging in my pajamas and attempting to get used to my new glasses. It's so weird--I've worn contacts for the last four years with no glasses at all so I feel like I'm in a fishbowl.

  • You're eating for two! Sounds exciting!

    ;P

I am fantastic although it's almost 1pm and SO hot and humid here. Hard to motivate myself to do anything.

  • nqb - sadly, I'm like this all the time. Pregnancy just makes me eat more often. I decided that I needed to finish the cheese dip before we went to dinner. I feel crappy if I don't eat every few hours...holy crap, is this what guys feel like? Cause honestly, it sucks.

Brie - I bet you look super cute in glasses! Do we get a pic?

  • sun - haha, I'm eating for, like, 1.1 right now. Definitely not enough to justify the amount of food I just ate.

I hear ya on the summer - it's usually hot and humid and awful during July and August here. Like, when you walk outside and feel like you're swimming and have trouble breathing. Fun times! I hope you find some sweet a/c and park yourself in front of it!

  • I'm good. Cooking and baking - chili, cake balls for DH, and cookies for my dad's potluck (he's my first paying customer!). I just took the dogs for a walk and my nerves are now shot.

  • Look on the bright side, it seems like morning sickness is over :)

I feel sick if I don't eat every few hours too, and Pete basically told me that's what it's like being a guy. It's weird and obnoxious that my stomach growls as soon as I want to go to sleep. I try to keep a lot of fruit in the house so I don't immediately go for the junk.

H and I were just discussing that. We live in a beautiful house with super-high ceilings. Just gorgeous to look at, and a lovely outlook, but the huge amount of space makes it pretty much impossible to cool effectively. We're thinking we're going to get exhaust things for the roof, as there's no way of letting all the heat out that gathers there right now, and aircon for the lowest level as that's the most airtight space and could be done with one unit.

When we win lotto and become millionaires (or when we have paid enough into the home loan to justify upping it), we're going to redo the kitchen and look into installing ducted geothermal temperature regulation.

  • brooke - you sound busy! Good luck with everything.

Dang, Brie, you're adorable! I used to wear contacts all the time, but once I started teaching, I didn't like shoving things in my eyes at 6am. I now wear my glasses practically all the time and love them.

I just ate a can of sketti-o's. again. I feel bloated. And now, I want ice cream (thanks sucrets!)

  • Laine - did I tell you that it was the Tamiflu that was making me sick?? Once I was done with that, I was back to normal! I get a teeny bit queasy if I don't eat, and it's mainly at night, but it's so minimal. I know how incredibly lucky I am.

sun - that sounds fancy! Can you find a Starbucks or something to cool off in? When our a/c was broken in mid July, we took refuge at a Panera. Food, a/c, free internet. It was a win all the way around! I hope you cool off soon.

  • Thanks, guys! I've never had such bold frames before so it'll take a little getting used to.

I love having contacts but law school seriously killed my eyes. It'll be nice to have an alternative. I wish I had them this morning....last night was hellacious and I so didn't want to put my contacts in!

Sun, do you have attic fans in australia? We have high ceilings too and our contractor recommended those to help pull out the heat.

  • Brie - years ago I fell in love with frames that were brown, but went the safe route and got wire half rims. Finally a few years later I caved in and finally got bolder frames because I always remembered how much I loved them.

  • The glasses I had in high school and college were kind of a light copper wire rim. I like these a lot, but it'll take some getting used to.

I'm also trying to figure out what to bring for Thanksgiving next week. Hmm.

Hi lady!! We don't have a coldstone anyways, so that's helpful. But I do have a mini container of coconut ice cream in the freezer that is calling my name.

Posted by lpstl[/QUOTE]

Well, we don't have an attic (haha I just typed 'attack'. we don't have an attack either), but I think that what I meant by an exhaust fan was the same thing... they call them 'whirly birds' here, but you can get all different types that basically suck the hot air out of the top of the house and are apparently quite effective. We've been looking into them for the past week as it's just unbearably hot here otherwise.

and sucrets, there's a mall nearby which I spent half of yesterday! haha. Today we're going out later, and have housework we should be doing in the meantime, so can't really escape quite so easily! H and I are seriously considering moving south to the cool!

  • Sucrets, eating every 2-4 hours is what I do post-bypass. I literally eat a snack in bed before I go to sleep, so I don't wake up with a belly ache or wake up in the middle of the night.

Brie, those are super cute. I need some new glasses, and some new contacts - I've stretched my year's supply of extended wear lenses out for 2 years now, and I think I have one pair left.

I've had one pair of framless glasses I've had for over 4 years I LOVE, but they're a little dinged up now (the lenses) and the nub cushion behind the ear has fallen off one side. I have another pair of wire frames I've never become fully enamored with, and DH just put me on his vision plan - glasses every other year; contacts in the years between - it's a damn good plan (most make you choose). Of course, I need high index polycarb lenses with all those coatings, so that will up the cost of what I have to pay, but still....

I wear the contacts when we're biking or doing stuff where I want to wear sunglasses or have photos taken.

  • shelly, I shudder to think what computer pepto is. Especially since you were talking about getting a pink netbook, lol

  • yeah, basically I took it to the school help desk, which is odd considering I married a big nerd.

I shouldn't complain, considering my laptop is 10 years old, its done pretty well, its just getting too old, and it over heats quickly. My steno practice is already heading downhill after a half hour. My mp3s are getting too slow.

10 years is ancient! I had a Dell that lasted for awhile. The hard drive crashed and DH replaced it, but then the actual body started cracking. That's when I gave in and bought a new one.

But they're SO much cheaper now! My first one in 2002 was around 3k. The one I bought in 2006 was $800 and my super fab HP that I bought this summer was $800.
