flowers

Hi I am just starting to look into my flowers for our June wedding. I was wondering if anyone had any florists that they recommend.  I really want to keep my flower costs down, so any budget flower ideas would be great!! Thanks

Lacey from Intuitive Blooms has been great to work with so far. She is very reasonably priced and I have only heard great reviews about her.

Martha of Martha's Garden. Truly AMAZING. She went above and beyond what I could have dreamed and blew everyone away!

Jeni from Simply Stated Elegance!!!  She doesn't upcharge her flowers at all...so you pay the price she pays.  She just charges a hourly rate to put the arrangments together. You can even go with her to pick them out.  I can't wait to go with her next month to pick out my flowers :)

    Here is her website:

If you want to really scale back your flower budget, would you consider DIY? We did it and were very happy with our choice. We made tons of centerpeices and all of the bouquets, bouts, etc for less than $400 and they looked really nice. We got the flowers from Sams Club.

Did you have any experience doing arrangements before?  I have considered DIY but am a little nervous about the idea..  I also was toying with the idea of doing silk flowers.  If anyone has any tips on DIY flowers real or silk, send them my way =)

I DIYd bouquets for myself and my MOH (only attendant) out of silk flowers. I had no experience beforehand. I putzed with my bouquet a lot since I had time and was only making two bouquets, but if you're looking for something simple, it will be easy. I just picked out the flowers that I wanted, practiced bunching them together, and once I got them where I liked them I wrapped them with tape, and then hot glued prettier ribbon on top.

You should walk to the farmers market downtown on hennepin and talk to the vendors selling amazing arrangments for $5, they all do weddings also!

My florist is amazing! Her name is Lisa and she is from Forget Me Not Floral Events:

It's great for a budget- she is charging us wholesale prices, and a small fee for labor. She is seriously one of our favorite vendors, and neither FI or I are big flower people.

I just signed my contract with Lacey! She does incredible work and I am still amazed at the price she quoted (less than HALF of what other florists were estimating).

I made my own bouq and cors/bout's with silk flowers and they actually turned out wonderful!  We are also doing real flowers for the church and reception and they just arrived today from sam's club. I just took them out of the box and even only after an hour they are starting to open a bit. I love them!

I'm using Anna from Bumblebee Floral. She is AWESOME! Very friendly, and had great ideas. I told her my color scheme and she picked out pretty much all the flowers I would have wanted used! Her prices are very reasonable, and she's just so nice to work with. Responding to emails quickly is big for me, because I'm doing everything from out of town, and she was able to send me pictures and articulate everything very well in email. I can't wait to meet her next month!

<div>I had never worked with real flowers before. I'd done a little bit with fake since I used to work at Michaels, but I had no real experience. I got some fake ones to practice with and watched a lot of youtubes on how to make the bouts and bouquets. Then I practiced with real ones. I showed my BMs how to do it and we all worked on them together. It is much easier than one would think. It just takes a little bit of practice and sturdy flowers like roses. </div>

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but I'm throwing in another vote for Lacey. She is 100% amazing, and her prices are incredible.

I did flowers from Sam's Club as well and I thought they came out great. We did bouquets and all the centerpieces. My total was around $150 though, I only got one bulk supply of gerbera daisies and one bulk box of orchids. They were in great shape when they arrived, no dead ones. I had also watched some you tube videos on how to make a gerbera daisy bouquet before hand so I had bought the floral tape, ribbon, wire, and pins ahead of time. For my centerpieces I just submerged one orchid in each vase and had floating candles so it was super easy and I didn't need that many flowers.

We actually made the bouquets while we were getting our hair done. My BM's and mom worked on them while I was stuck in the chair... In hindsight I probably should have taken the protective wrap off of the blooms the day before so they would have opened up a little more but they looked great even though they were kind of closed up. There is only so much you can control on the day of and that was not something I was going to freak out about!

For our boutineers and corsages I actually used wood flowers I got off Esty and they looked great! I chose to not use fake flowers because of the cost, I needed too many of them for it to be economical and I couldn't find what I wanted.

I signed with Zoe Blooms :)

She is incredibly nice. FI and I met with 9 different people and she came so prepared. She had a laptop full of ideas that she had found based on what I was thinking and was able to put together exact ideas within our meeting time so that we could see pretty much what everything would look like and her prices are great!!

Oh and she does get some flowers online orders, but others from local markets!! Which I loved :)
