To do or not to do? Facials....

I was thinking about starting to get facials right now and probably do 4 of them before the wedding. I have had a facial before and I loved getting it done but for the few days afterwards my face hurt, especially in the places where she extracted stuff, it was scabby in a lot of areas, is that normal? I have heard that can be common the first time but if you get them done routinely, then your skin will look really nice.

The spa that is right below my condo is offering a special, $39 for a 1 hour facial, so I was thinking of buying 4 of them, and it's convenient then I can go down the elevator and get the service done.

Did anyone do facials before their wedding and how did it turn out? TIA!

I think you'd be safe as long as you start now and be open to stopping if they don't work for you (ie: not buy a plan or something).  If you got a terrible one now or even in May, you'd have enough time to "heal" before your wedding.

I think you have great skin, though, so I don't see the need!  I didn't get any facials, so I don't have any experience pre-wedding.

I get facials at Face Logic (I go to the St Cloud location, but there is one in Eden Prairie) and love love love them. I have never had any pain from extractions or scabbing, and my skin is sensitive, so your experience concerns me. Perhaps starting with a milder facial might help?

I've been going to Kalla Lily in Coon Rapids (they also has a Maple Grove location) for a few months now.  I have very sensitive skin and never had the issues you described either.  The first time I did have a few minor breakouts but ever since, my skin has been so much healthier.

I love my esthetician Jessica, she is fabulous!  She also recommends getting them done every five weeks or so.

Not sure if your previous experience of pain/discomfort would be related to this but I've found that I have issues with my skin every time they use products other than Aveda...so maybe you had a reaction from the products they used?

I'm looking to start facials this next few weeks too.  My sister has been getting facials in EP every other week (not sure what she pays) and her face is red/blotchy for 1-2 days after.  Her face is looking great and her pores are much smaller now.

I hate facials and have been dragging my feet to schedule them since they hurt and are not relaxing.

Where are you getting facials for $39?

The facials that are $39 are at Zhen Reflections Spa in Spring Park, it's located in the same building as my condo. I love that spa, it was built 3 years ago so it's really nice and the facials are normally from $75-105 but they have a promo right now, you have to buy 2 of them for $39 each.
