Not Engaged Yet

Guess What?!?!?!?

I'm engaged!!!!!!!!!

The story is a little long but I love all the little details he put in there that lead to the proposal at the end of the day.

Sean proposed to me on Febuary 15th 2013 with this absolutely beautiful ring. He told me on Valentine's Day as we were eating our dinner that he had a surprise dinner for tomorrow evening. I wanted to know so bad where we were going but all he said was that I needed to be ready by 5:30 to leave for dinner. Friday afternoon I left work early to go home and get ready. Sean picked me up and drove to Buckhead while trying to confuse me on the way making me think we were going other places. In my mind I thought we were going to a restaurant in Atlanta somewhere when he finally pulled up to the Ritz.

He said that there was a restaurant inside that he made reservations for at 6:30. Once we got to the restaurant he stopped me and said he actually made reservations for 7:00 and that he got us a room for the night. I think my jaw dropped to the floor. He took me up to the room and opened the door to find rose petals and candles all over the place.

There was a spectacular view and the sun was setting. It was so beautiful. By this point I knew he had something else planned besides dinner. That's when he walked me over to the view and got down on one knee and proposed. It was so beautiful! I've never been so surprised or amazed by all the planning he did around me. I never knew anything. We had a fabulous dinner afterwards! It was a night I will never forget! I can't wait to call Sean my husband and be his wife!

Re: Guess What?!?!?!?

  • I forgot to add this question. I want to get FI an engagement gift. Did any of y'all get a gift for your FI after you got engaged? If so would you recommend anything? I was thinking a nice flask or maybe one of those cigar kits.

Yay! Congrats!  What a thoughtful proposal.

I did get FI an engagement gift.  I bought him a pair of custom Oakleys.  I am also planning on doing boudoir pics as a second gift, but he is getting that closer to the wedding (if I can still afford it...wedding/honeymoon savings are taking priority).

ETA: I like the flask idea, I got FI a nice flask for one of our anniversaries.

  • Congrats!

I know a few girls have bought their FIs a watch, or an xbox, it really just depends on what they want.  If/when BF proposes, I plan on buying him a watch he's wanted for a really long time.  If he's already bought it for himself at that point, I'll probably spend about 6 months trying to find a way for him to get some ridiculous Man U experience - meet the team, etc.  I have no idea if they even do that.

  • Congrats!!  Yay, we can be planning novices together!  I'm getting to the point where I'm like "oh gosh, I guess I have to call and see some of these places soon" haha.  I hate calling people.  I'm going to be a horrible wedding planner :)

I didn't get FI an engagement gift, but I guess since we've only been engaged for just over a week, I still have the option.  He's weirded out by engagement gifts from my family members/friends though, so he'd probably be like "what the heck is this?"
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • Congratulations!

  • Thanks everyone for the congrats! I think I will do something special for him this upcoming weekend maybe. I can't decide if I will get him a gift or maybe take him to his favorite restaurant and just plan a romantic evening like he did for me. I just want to do something special for him.
  • Congrats!!!!  What a sweet and thoughtful way to propose.  And what a lovely, sparkly ring!
  • Congrats! To me, that sounds like the perfect proposal. A night in a nice hotel with something to celebrate? Awesome! Your ring is absolutely beautiful as well.

I didn't get H anything, I don't think he would have liked it.  But one girl got her FI a watch that was very nice.

  • Congrats!!! Such a cute story
  • WOOHOOOOOO!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!

    Yaay!

FI and I joke about getting him an "Engagement 6 Iron" in place of a mangagement ring. Now he's asking for a "wedding 6 iron" instead of a wedding ring. The price tag makes it tempting.

If he's into cigars, check out a nice humidor. I got FI one for his birthday last year and it came with 4 cigars. He loves it.

I didn't get FI anything but I did make him red velvet truffles and red velvet cupcakes. Red velvet is his favorite cake flavor. :)

  • Well I ended up getting him a Flask with an engraved message on it with a mini bottle of his favorite liqueor. I'll probably take him out to dinner and give him his gift this week. Thanks everyone for the congrats and input. I'm very interested and excited to embark on this wedding planning process!
  • Congrats! That sounds like a great gift.
