What is your budget???

Re: What is your budget???

  • Our budget is $28K. My parents offered to pay for the wedding.. I'm the only girl, the youngest and the last to be getting married. It has been harder keeping mom in check about the budget than me!

Our wedding has 200 invited guests and the budget doesn't include HM, our rings or BP gifts. It does include other things though like BP hotel rooms (we are in OR, but the wedding is in CA), our wedding night room, and my parents attire for the wedding.

FI's parents are taking care of the RD, thankfully.

I feel like my wedding pales in comparison with all of yours. My budget is $4000 at the very most and we're trying to keep it at $3000 or below. EDIT: Our guest list is at 180 now, but will probably be down to 150 when invitations go out.

We're rounding out $40k for 125 ppl, not incl the honeymoon, rings, or attire.  The area I live in is not budget friendly at all.

  • We're looking at $25k for 138 guests, huge thanks to my parents.  The region we're getting married at is not budget friendly at all, but I've known since I was a kid that I wanted to get married in a vineyard.  Today was an awesome day because we found out we're $600 under budget for flowers, woohoo!

I'll be honest, I have a much higher budget but I think low-budget weddings force a great deal more creativity which generally results in more individual touches.  I don't think it's any indication that your wedding "pales in comparison," I am a firm believer that an amazing wedding can happen on any budget.

This also really depends on the part of the country you're from - the Northeast (New England, New York, New Jersey) tends to be crazy expensive compared to other areas of the country, and that even varies greatly (e.g. weddings in NH's White Mountains are pretty inexpensive as compared to weddings on the seacoast or MA border).

  • Our budget was originally $10,000 however we've only exceeded by 1,000 so far. I would love to know how some of you are keeping your budget $ 5,000 and below ?

I am so thankful that my FILs have offered us 20K for the wedding not including the rehersal dinner and any friends they choose to invite above and beyond our list.
My mom was able to buy my dress and the accesorries, anytime I go home she buys some stuff and puts deposits on places like the hair, flowers, photography.

My mom has also bought my sister who is my MOH her dress and my FILs wil pay for the tuxes on top of that

So generous and way more than I could have ever imagened or hoped for!
