Are we supposed to invite our Officiate

to our reception?
i figured so but just wanted to get your take. thanks for the info by the way; we went with michael kelleher! he's great and many of you recommended him.

    You do not have to, but I am sure he'd consider it polite. We did because we had person connections with our officiants.

    When we met with our officiant for the first time he said that he often gets invited but he declines because he doesn't know the people at the reception and doesn't feel that he should require the bride and groom to pay for him to be there. That being said at my sisters wedding she invited hers because she had known him for awhile and he stayed.

    devcipps, the same thing happened with ours.  I think it's the polite thing to invite them, but they aren't likely to come.

    Its the right thing to do.  Most of the time they decline anyway but it might be considered impolite to not at least extend the offer.
